The Americans enter as the clear favorites to win a third straight Women's World Cup, and it's reflected in all betting markets.

After winning the Silver Boot in France in 2019, Alex Morgan is the favorite to win the award in Australia this summer. Morgan, the striker for the US team, tied Meghan Rapinoe in France with six goals, and will look to cash in for bettors as the Golden Boot winner this time around.

However, it's not just Morgan at the top of the odds board for the Americans. Sophia Smith is the second choice to win the Golden Boot in her first World Cup appearance. In fact, 90min women's soccer expert Jamie Spencer likes Smith as his pick to take home the award.

"Sophia Smith is having a prolific NWSL season for Portland Thorns and the United States will face a Vietnam side first up that has just been annihilated 9-0 by Spain in an unofficial friendly," Smith told BetSided. "That will be a good early opportunity to rack up goals. Think back to Alex Morgan getting five in the 13-0 win over Thailand in 2019 - she finished as joint top scorer for the whole tournament even with only one further goal in the six remaining games."

2023 Women's World Cup Golden Boot Odds

Smith and Morgan are the only Americans two inside of +1000 to win the award as the group comes in as the clear favorites to win a third straight World Cup.

After Morgan and Smith are Sam Kerr of Australia and Esther Gonzalez of Spain.

Golden Boot does typically go to the winning team considering that team plays the most games and those players would have the most opportunities to score, so it makes sense that the likes of Morgan and Smith are at the top of the market.
