The final tournament of the 2021-2022 PGA Tour regular season is here, the Wyndham Championship!

If you're looking for my full breakdown, as well as my top bets for this week, check out my betting preview here, or watch this week's episode of Green on the Greens.

Now, I'm going to give out my favorite 3-ball bets for the opening round. These are bets on just a single round. It's a wager on a golfer to finish with the lowest round score in the threesome that he's grouped with for that day.

All odds listed below are via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Wyndham Championship Round 1 3-Ball Bets

  • Austin Cook +350 vs. Harold Varner/Taylor Pendrith
  • Webb Simpson +100 vs. Kevin Kisner/Davis Love
  • Sungjae Im +145 vs. Will Zalatoris/J.T. Poston

Austin Cook +350 vs. Harold Varner/Taylor Pendrith

You want an underdog? I have an underdog for ya.

Austin Cook is one of the shortest hitters on Tour, coming in at 192nd in driving distance, but on the bright side, he's 19th in driving accuracy. As I pointed out in my betting preview, this is the event where you should target accurate hitters who are normally behind the 8-ball due to their length of their drives.

If driving accuracy is key here (it is), then Harold Varner and Taylor Pendrith might be in trouble. Varner ranks 164th in driving accuracy, and Pendrith ranks 148th.

This is a huge test for my "accuracy over distance" theory for the Wyndham Championship.

Webb Simpson +100 vs. Kevin Kisner/Davis Love

Davis Love is 58 years old, I don't even know why he's competing here. Six starts this season, five missed cuts. Let's just ignore him.

This is a bet between Webb Simpson and Kevin Kisner. Kisner is the defending champ, but his approach game took a step back this year. He ranks 162nd in strokes gained: approach, and 57th in greens in regulation.

Meanwhile, Simpson has almost never disappointed at the Wyndham. In 13 career starts at this event, he has 10 finishes of 11th or better and five top three finishes.

Sungjae Im +145 vs. Will Zalatoris/J.T. Poston

Sungjae Im has had a great track record at the Wyndham Championship. He has two top 10 finishes in three starts, and he's also entering the event coming off a T2 finish at the 3M Open. He's accurate off the tee, is a magician around the greens, and is a great mid-iron player.

I'm fading Will Zalatoris here, because short and easy courses are not where he usually thrives. The longer and tougher the course is, the better things will go for Willy Z.

Finally, J.T. Poston one this event back in 2019, but has missed two straight cuts here since then.
