Wyoming vs. Santa Clara Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, November 30 (Take Cowboys and Points)

UPDATE: Wyoming star Hunter Maldonado (concussion) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game.

The Wyoming Cowboys and senior guard Hunter Maldonado are on the road for a key matchup with the Santa Clara Broncos on Wednesday afternoon in college basketball. 

The Cowboys were a solid team last season, but they are just 3-3 on the 2022-23 season with losses to Drake, Boston College and Southeastern Louisiana. 

Wyoming plays slow, ranking 307th in the country in adjusted tempo, and the team has struggled with turnovers, ranking 279th in turnover percentage. That could be an issue against Santa Clara, who ranks 68th in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency. 

Sophomore guard Brandin Podziemski (19.9 points per game) has been terrific for the Broncos, but can they cover this seven-point spread?

There may be some value in this game, as the Broncos are seven-point favorites, but KenPom projects this as just a one-point win for Santa Clara. 

The Broncos are the best offensive rebounding team in the country, but they rank 282nd in effective field goal percentage and are nearly as bad as Wyoming in terms of turning the ball over, ranking 267th in turnover percentage. 

This matchup may be a little more even than we think, especially since Drake and BC are both solid programs that the Cowboys lost to. 

Wyoming scored just 48 points in its loss to Boston College, its only loss by more than seven points this season, but the team has a better offense than that game suggests, ranking 100th in adjusted offensive efficiency and 144th in effective field goal percentage. 

I’ll take the points with a Wyoming team that was 25-9 last season and should improve as the season progresses.
