Yankees vs. Cardinals Prediction and Odds for Sunday, August 7 (Another UNDER Brewing in St. Louis?)
By Peter Dewey
The St. Louis Cardinals are looking to sweep the New York Yankees after pitching a combined shutout on Saturday to win 1-0 and take Game 2 of their three-game set.
New York is struggling at the dish, but it does have something to look forward to on the mound, as Frankie Montas is making his debut with the team in this matchup.
He will be opposed by veteran righty Adam Wainwright (8-8, 3.11 ERA), who has allowed just one run over his last 14 innings of work.
Here are the odds for this Sunday showdown via WynnBET:
Yankees vs. Cardinals Odds, Run Line and Total
Run Line:
- Yankees -1.5 (+120)
- Cardinals +1.5 (-145)
Moneyline:
- Yankees: -133
- Cardinals: +123
Total:
- 8 (Over -110/Under -110)
Yankees vs. Cardinals Prediction and Pick
Frankie Montas has a chance to really make his mark on the Yankees quickly, as they need a strong performance to bounce back after two straight one-run losses.
Montas has been really solid lately, allowing three or fewer runs in every start he’s made since late June, and he should be able to handle a Cardinals lineup that hasn’t exactly hit the cover off the ball in this series either.
With Wainwright pitching some of his best baseball of the season, I don’t mind looking at the UNDER here, especially since the first two games of this series combined for eight runs in total.
With the total set at eight on Sunday and two elite pitchers on the mound, let’s fade these offenses one more time.
Lean: UNDER 8 (-110)
