Yankees vs. Rockies prediction and odds for Friday, July 14 (Back total at Coors Field)

The Yankees start the second half outside of the playoff picture, but will hope the likes of Carlos Rodon can bolster the team's prospects to start the second half of the season.

Rodon draws the start for the second time this season after starting the year on the injured list with a shoulder injury. He made his first start last week, tossing five-plus innings of two run baseball. Can he keep it up at Coors Field, the most hitter firendly park in the big leagues?

If the left hander looks like he did last season, he should shut down this Rockies lineup. He didn't pitch at Coors Field, but he did face Colorado three times and struck out 17 batters across 16 innings while posting a 2.25 ERA.

Rodon may not go too far into this game as the Yankees don't want to overwork him too quickly, but the Yanks are backed up by the second best bullpen in terms of ERA.

I'm confident the former Giants lefty is going to generate swings and misses and limit hard contact, which will me it a tough go for the Rockies lineup.

However, I like the chances for Austin Gomber to string together a positive start. While the left hander has struggled this season overall, he has been in good form recently pitching to a 3.86 ERA over his last four starts, down from his season long ERA of 6.40.

The Yankees are still trying to tread water without Aaron Judge, 24th in OPS over the last 30 days. With Gomber pitching at his best, I believe this can be a low scoring affair for both sides.
