The 7-5 New York Yankees look for a sweep as they take on the 4-7 Detroit Tigers today at 1:10 PM EST.

After winning the first two games of the series by scores of 4-2 and 5-3, respectively, the Yankees send out Jordan Montgomery to start. The 29-year-old lefty struggled against Boston in his first start of the season before tossing five scoreless innings against Baltimore in his second outing.

Detroit counters with Michael Pineda, who will make his 2022 debut against his former team.

The Tigers have now lost three straight and haven't scored more than four runs in five consecutive ballgames. Can they turn things around to salvage a win in the series or will New York sweep their American League foe?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET as we find some value in this Yankees vs Tigers matchup:

Yankees vs Tigers Prediction and Pick

Do you like offense? Well, too bad.

Both of these teams have excelled at run prevention but have been, to put it kindly, not very good at scoring runs. The Yankees haven't scored more than five runs since Opening Day and the Tigers have done it....checks notes...also only one time.

But they've each relied on a strong pitching staff to keep games close. New York is surrendering just 2.83 runs per game while Detroit has given up only 2.6 per game over their last five.

Michael Pineda was impressive to end 2021, amassing a 2.13 ERA over his final four starts, but Jordan Montgomery may have been even better. He allowed one run or fewer in nine of his last 12 outings last year and has picked up right where he left off to start this season. Just check out his pitching profile so far:

The under is 4-1 in the last five Yankees' games and 9-2 in Orioles' contests this year. I expect more of the same between two offenses that can't hit water falling out of a boat and two pitching staffs that have been excellent.

Give me the under to hit once again as both pitchers shut down sputtering lineups.

Pick: Under 8.0 (+100)
