The 33-25 Minnesota Twins host the 40-16 New York Yankees tonight at 7:40 PM EST. It's the final matchup of a three-game series after splitting the first two contests.

Chris Archer and the Twins' bullpen stifled New York yesterday, while Minnesota's offense got to Nestor Cortes early; pulling out to a lead they'd never relinquish in an 8-1 win. They send Dylan Bundy to the mound after a disastrous start against Toronto last week ,in which he gave up six runs in just 2.1 innings.

Gerrit Cole is tasked with getting the Yankees back on track. He's been his typical dominant self this year, amassing a 5-1 record and 2.78 ERA through 11 starts. He's thrown a quality start in seven of his last eight outings and hurled seven shutout innings against Detroit in his most recent appearance.

Can Bundy and Minnesota give New York consecutive losses or will Cole steady the ship to give the Yankees a series win?

Yankees vs Twins Prediction and Pick

Since my beloved Kansas City Royals are a dumpster fire of a franchise, I let BetSided's Peter Dewey tempt me to the dark side and try out this whole Yankees fandom thing for a few days. He promised fun. Yesterday, the Royals blew out Toronto while the Yankees got smoked by the Twins. That's not quite the fun I was looking for.

Maybe I'm a cursed fan, but I'm willing to give the Bronx Bombers another shot. If they get dominated again, I may have to switch allegiances just so I don't ruin all of Peter's joy. New York has a good thing going, so why should I ruin it?

No pressure or anything, Gerrit Cole, but there's a lot riding on you today. Luckily, he and the Yanks are in good shape to dominate Dylan Bundy and Minnesota.

Bundy had a solid start to the season but things have unraveled for him lately. Over his last six starts, the former Oriole has an 8.59 ERA as the Twins have lost each outing. He's surrendered four home runs over his last three, which is a bad omen against a Yankees lineup that bombs more dingers than any team in baseball. Minnesota's bullpen will be taxed after the first two games of the series too, so Bundy needs a strong outing to keep this matchup from getting out of hand.

New York won't have that same concern with Cole, who has thrown at least six innings in eight consecutive starts. The Yankees are 7-2 in his last nine outings as he ranks in the 86th percentile in expected ERA and 91st in strikeout percentage. Cole has at least nine strikeouts in three straight appearances and should continue his dominant streak against a Twins offense that averages the sixth-most strikeouts per game in MLB at home.

Every loss in Bundy's six-game winless streak has come by multiple runs and I expect that to continue. This is for all the marbles, New York. I can't bring bad vibes to Peter's squad, so let's get this done and have some fun, shall we?

Pick: Yankees -1.5 (-125)
