One of the most fun golf bets to make in a tournament is wagering on who will be leading after the first round.

These bets will offer a bigger payout for some big name golfers, and it gives you a chance to bet on a few golfers that you'd normally stay away from. Also, you only need to watch to first round of the tournament to find out if your bet cashes.

Keep in mind that picking a winner in a golf tournament is hard enough. Picking the first round leader is even tougher, so I like to keep this bets to a sprinkle at most. They should be much smaller bets than your normal wagers.

I already broke down on this week's episode of Green on the Greens why I like the pairing of Billy Horschel and Sam Burns to win, but I think I might like them even more to be the first round leader at +2000.

They are two guys who excel at scoring birdies, which is massive for Thursday's round of best ball. As a cherry on top, they have the best combined first round scoring average amongst all teams. Horschel enters the event ranking sixth in first round scoring average at 68.3, and Burns i tied for 15th at 69.
