The Texas Tech Red Raider has been a program since 1925 but hasn’t had a ton of success in the last 100 years or so. While they do have just 19 appearances in the Tournament, the official count is 18 due to a vacated 1996 season. Overall their record in the tourney is 19-19.

This year, The Red Raiders entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 3 seed. It is the highest seed they have been able to earn since seeding began in 1985.

Despite a history of bad results, the Red Raiders have seen a lot more success over the last decade. Now that they are in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2019, they are a tempting team to bet on to win it all.

When Was the Red Raiders’ Last National Championship

The Red Raiders may have been a team for 98 years, but they have just one national championship banner hanging in their rafters. However, on the bright side, that National Championship came just a few years back in 2019. It was the cherry on top of what had been a phenomenal decade for Texas Tech basketball.  After just 10 appearances in the Tournament since their debut, the Red Raiders have made it nine times in the last 10 years.

They made the Elite Eight in 2018 and the Sweet Sixteen in 2005 as well.

Texas Tech’s Odds to Win National Championship

WynnBET Sportsbook currently has the Red Raiders listed at +1200 to win as the No. 3 seed in the West Region. Their net test will be against a very tough and determined No. 2 Duke Blue Devils.

The Duke Blue Devils are fighting hard to continue Coach K’s final season alive. According to the odds at WynnBET, the Red Raiders are very slim one-point favorites to move on to the Elite Eight.

If the Red Raiders do manage to sneak past a dangerous Duke team, they will play the winner of Gonzaga vs Arkansas.
