The Big Ten football season got off to an early start in Week 0, but it wasn’t exactly the prettiest game you’ll ever watch. Illinois came out of the game victorious, upsetting Nebraska 30-22 as a 7-point home underdog.

The conference is set to (hopefully) have a few more games that will display better football this week, highlighted by Ohio State taking on Minnesota on Thursday night. WynnBET has Ohio State set as a 14-point favorite.

The Buckeyes have won the conference in four straight seasons, but fell short in the College Football Playoff the past two years. They fell 29-23 to Clemson in the semifinal in 2019, and then lost 52-24 to Alabama in the National Championship Game in the shortened 2020 campaign.

Can they make another run in 2021?

Odds to Win the Big Ten Football Conference

Here are the odds via WynnBET to win the 2021 Big Ten Football Conference.

  • Ohio State -175
  • Wisconsin +400
  • Penn State +900
  • Iowa +1000
  • Michigan +1800
  • Indiana +3000
  • Minnesota +4000
  • Northwestern +7500
  • Nebraska +10000
  • Purdue +10000
  • Illinois +10000
  • Michigan State +20000
  • Maryland +50000

Could Ohio State go undefeated in the regular season?

The Buckeyes are heavy favorites to win the conference at -175, but could they also go undefeated? They haven’t lost to a Big Ten opponent since October 20th, 2018 when they were upset by the Purdue Boilermakers in a 49-20 rout.

WynnBET has Ohio State’s win total for 2021 set at 11, with the over set at +110 and the under set at -120. One of its toughest challenges in the regular season this year isn’t a Big Ten opponent. The Buckeyes are set to face the Oregon Ducks on September 11th, in what will be one of the most exciting non-conference games of the 2021 college football season.

Outside of the Ducks, Ohio State has to play at Indiana who it just barely beat at home in 2020, squeaking by with a 42-35 win.

Taking the over on the Buckeyes win total isn’t a bad idea, considering it will be a push if they finish 11-1. I can’t see them dropping two regular season games in 2021, but crazier things have happened.

Indiana is Being Disrespected by Oddsmakers

Indiana dropped only two games in 2020, losing in a heartbreaker to Ohio State and then in another nail-biter to Ole Miss in the Outback Bowl. Despite the strong season and the fact that they’re ranked No. 17 in the AP Preseason Top 25, Indiana’s odds to win the Conference are set at +3000. That’s just disrespectful.

Tom Allen has created a winning culture at Indiana that’s easy for fans to get behind, and the team has a chance to create something special this season. Will they upset Ohio State and win the conference? That may be a stretch, but they certainly present value at their current odds.
