Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals have a tough test at home in Week 1 against an AFC North rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Bengals haven’t gotten much respect in the futures market despite making the Super Bowl last season, but they could change that perception with a dominant performance in Week 1.

If you aren’t sold on betting a side, you can always have some fun and back your favorite players (or fade them!) with some player props. Here are three I’m targeting for this Week 1 showdown:

Best Prop Bets for Steelers vs. Bengals

  • Tyler Boyd OVER 3.5 Receptions
  • Joe Mixon OVER 72.5 Rushing Yards
  • Joe Burrow UNDER 260.5 Passing Yards

Tyler Boyd OVER 3.5 Receptions

Tyler Boyd is Mr. Reliable for the Cincinnati Bengals, averaging 4.2 catches per game last season and posting a lengthy streak without a drop.

Boyd registered six catches on eight targets in two games against Pittsburgh last season, and if the Steelers’ vaunted pass rush gets to Joe Burrow, Boyd is going to be a safety blanket over the middle, especially now that C.J. Uzomah is in New York.

Joe Mixon OVER 70.5 Rushing Yards

Joe Mixon DOMINATED the Steelers in 2021, rushing for 90 yards in their first meeting and 165 in their second meeting.

Pittsburgh’s defense allowed the most yards per carry in the NFL last season, and Zac Taylor and the Bengals took advantage of that, giving Mixon 46 carries over their two matchups with the Steelers.

If he sees that volume again, 72.5 yards should be an easy clear for a guy who averaged over four yards per carry last season.

Joe Burrow UNDER 260.5 Passing Yards

It’s going to be a rare occurrence this season that you see me fade Burrow, but he had two of his worst passing games against the Steelers last season since they dominated them on the ground.

Burrow threw the ball just 42 times across two games against Pittsburgh, failing to clear 200 yards in both games. This number is just a little too high for my liking against a good pass rush and solid secondary.
