3 Best Prop Bets Today for Lakers vs. Clippers (LAL Need a Big Game from Westbrook)
By Matt De Saro
The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are set to collide tonight in a battle for LA at the Cypto.com Arena. Fansided’s Peter Dewey took care of the full game betting preview, so I wanted to tackle some of the more interesting player props for tonight’s hallway series courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
3 Best Prop Bets for Lakers vs Clippers
- Russel Westbrook OVER 30.5 Points + Assists + Rebounds (-108)
- Anthony Davis UNDER 38.5 Points + Assists + Rebounds (-115)
- Russel Westbrook OVER 0.5 Triple Doubles +300
Russel Westbrook OVER 30.5 Points + Assists + Rebounds (-108)
The reigning king of the triple-double has the wonderful habit of really filling out the stat sheet most nights. He is averaging 18.7 points per, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game for the Lakers. So, on a totally average night, Westbrook would go over this total by 4.4 points. With LeBron James out and Anthony Davis coming back from an injury on the second game of a back-to-back, I don’t expect Westbrook to have anything short of a great game. Because he has to.
Anthony Davis UNDER 38.5 Points + Assists + Rebounds (-115)
Normally I would jump on the chance to bet Davis in any game when LeBron James is out of the lineup, but I don't’ think this is the right spot. First off, Davis is still getting back into the groove after suffering a wrist injury. He played through the pain last night in a win over the Trail Blazers, but I wonder about his ability to do that two nights in a row. Not to mention the Lakers' desire to protect one of their most valuable assets. Davis went well over this total last night in 37 minutes but I think the Lakers play it a little safer tonight with his wrist.
Russel Westbrook OVER 0.5 Triple Doubles +300
For the first time in a long time, Westbrook is not leading the NBA in triple-doubles. While he is the all-time leader, the Lakers’ PG has “just” nine this season. Pedestrian numbers compared to Nikola Jokic’s 13 or Westbrook’s total of 38 from last season. Jokic finished with 16. Despite this, Westbrook is still one of the best players in the game and will be the best player on the court tonight for either team. He will need to take control of the game on both sides of the court to lead the Lakers to a win and he has the chops to do it. Westbrook’s last triple-double came on New Year’s Eve and I think he’s due for his 10th tonight.
