3 Best Prop Bets for Walker Buehler in Braves vs. Dodgers
By Matt De Saro
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves face off in Game 3 of the NLCS tonight at Dodger Stadium. The Braves came out of the gate hot and have a 2-0 series lead over the defending champions. Game 3 will see L.A. send Walker Buehler to the mound to try and help pull the team back into this NLCS.
So far in his 10.2 innings of work in the playoffs, Buehler has allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out nine. He has also given up two home runs over those 10.2 innings.
Heading into game three, the Dodgers are -175 favorite at WynnBET despite playing in a 0-2 hole. Buehler will be facing off against Charlie Morton who will be looking to bring the Braves one step closer to a sweep.
We aren’t focused on the sides in this game here, however, this space is dedicated to Buehler prop betting picks for Game 3. So let’s review the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook and make a few picks on the Dodgers starter tonight.
Best NLCS Game 3 Prop Bets for Walker Buehler
- Walker Buehler UNDER 5.0 K’s (-115)
- Walker Buehler OVER 1.5 earned runs +135)
- Walker Buehler OVER 15.5 pitching outs (+125)
Walker Buehler OVER 5.0 K’s (-125)
The 27-year-old is one of the best ‘young’ talents in the business and put on a clinic this season. In the regular season, Buehler was 16-4 with a 2.47 ERA and held opposing batters to under .200. His first game of the NLDS was a bit shaky and saw him surrender three runs in 6 ⅓ innings in Game 1 which the Dodgers lost. Buehler bounced back and pitched much better in Game 4, allowing three hits and one run in 4.1 innings.
I think we see the return of the second Buehler, the dominant righty who lines up quite well against the Braves’ batting order. For as good as the team is, the Braves’ weak spot might be their habit of striking out at a high rate.
Atlanta ranks 23rd in the MLB in terms of strikeouts per game with 9.05. Basically, the Braves strikeout once per inning. Buehler has around the same average on the season, pitching 207.2 innings and fanning 212. So a bit better than nine strikeouts per nine innings.
This bet, as many postseason props, will likely boil down to how long the Dodgers leave Buehler out there. As we all know, postseason pitchers are on a short leash and, with the arms, the Dodgers have to back him up, the team won’t hesitate if he struggles. Buehler hasn’t exactly been the definition of an inning eater, In his last game out he pitched just 4.2 innings with four K's. Before that, he went 6.1 innings with five strikeouts.
Walker Buehler UNDER 1.5 earned runs (+135)
This goes hand and hand with my confidence in Buehler tonight to hold the Braves at bay for the first six innings or so. So far, the Braves have done most of their damage against the Dodgers bullpen and I think if the Braves win tonight it is more of the same. Buehler has allowed more than one run just once since Sept. 22 and I think tonight he keeps the Braves in check.
Sure, the Braves rank ninth with 4.85 runs per game, but they have had trouble getting their offense rolling early in these NLCS games. Bet on that to continue and for Buehler to escape this game relatively unscathed.
Walker Buehler OVER 15.5 pitching outs (+125)
If the Dodgers have a real shot at bringing this series back under control, they will need a gem from Buehler tonight. He also needs to eat some innings because I don’t think the Dodgers are in love with their bullpen right now. At the end of the day, each of the props on this list is based on how long I think Buehler stays in the game. Therefore, the addition of total pitching outs just makes sense.
In his lone start against the Braves in the regular season, Buehler spun a seven-inning win in August, giving up two runs in seven innings of work with five strikeouts.
We are putting a lot of faith in Dave Roberts to not go to the pen so early in this game even if Buehler stumbles. If he makes it into the 6th inning, good chance we cash all three of these bets.
