3 Bold Predictions for Kings vs. Jazz: Back Donovan Mitchell Tonight
By Peter Dewey
The Sacramento Kings go on the road Tuesday to face the Utah Jazz who are 5-1 on the season and 5-1 against the spread.
Utah got the better of the Kings in the first matchup of the season between these two teams, and WynnBET has the Jazz as a nine-point favorite in tonight's matchup.
I've got my eye on some player props in this one, so let's make some bold predictions for Kings-Jazz:
3 Bold Predictions for Kings vs. Jazz
- Donovan Mitchell OVER 26.5 Points (-125)
- De’Aaron Fox UNDER 23.5 Points (-135)
- De’Aaron Fox OVER 5.5 Assists (+100)
Donovan Mitchell OVER 26.5 Points (-125)
Mitchell is averaging just 23.0 points per game this season, but he’s come on strong in his last two games, putting up 30 and 28 points respectively.
He torched the Kings for 27 points (6-for-14 from 3) in their first matchup this season, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does it again tonight.
The Kings had the second worst defensive rating in NBA history last year, and not much had changed in the 2021-22 season, as they come into this game at No. 24 in defensive rating through their first six games. Mitchell will see the volume, and I think he hits the over on this number for the third straight game.
De’Aaron Fox UNDER 23.5 Points (-135)
De’Aaron Fox hasn’t gotten out to a fast start this season, as he’s averaging just 18.5 points per game while shooting 37.7 percent from the field and a dreadful 17.1 percent from 3-point range.
For some reason, his points prop is at 23.5 against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday who come into this game with the second-best defensive rating in the NBA.
Fox had a season-low 12 points on 5-of-19 shooting when these teams faced off on Oct. 22, and I expect him to struggle to score in this one. I know the -135 juice is less than ideal, but you have to fade Fox until he shows some sign of turning things around shooting.
De’Aaron Fox OVER 5.5 Assists (+100)
Don’t worry, we’re not going all out fading Fox tonight.
I like the odds on this prop at +100 considering Fox is averaging 6.3 assists per game this season. So does Ben Heisler, who has this prop listed as his top prop bet of the night at BetSided.
He only had five against the Jazz in their first meeting, but given his shooting struggles this season, I’d expect Fox to try and involve his teammates against one of the NBA’s best defensive units.
