3 Bold Predictions for Geno Smith in Seahawks vs. Steelers on Sunday Night Football
By Peter Dewey
Geno Smith makes his first start in four years on Sunday Night Football when the Seattle Seahawks take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Steel City.
The Seahawks are five-point underdogs in the latest odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, and it’s not surprising considering they’re on the road with an unproven quarterback.
Still, there’s a chance Smith can channel the performance he had in Week 5 to help the Seahawks compete tonight. So, we’re going to get bold at BetSided and make some bold predictions for Geno tonight against Pittsburgh:
Bold Predictions for Geno Smith in Seahawks vs. Steelers
- Geno Smith Throws OVER 1.5 Touchdown Passes (+145)
- Seahawks and Geno Smith Cover vs. Steelers (-110)
- Geno Smith OVER 18.5 Rushing Yards (-125)
Geno Smith Throws OVER 1.5 Touchdown Passes (+145)
Geno Smith showed some promise as a passer in relief of Russell Wilson against the Los Angeles Rams, and he will have a chance to show he belongs against the Steelers in primetime.
He went 10-for-17 against the Rams and threw one score and an interception, and I think he finds a way to score two touchdowns against the Steelers this week.
While the Steelers are in the middle of the pack in terms of passing yards allowed this season, they’ve allowed 10 passing touchdowns, which is tied for the eighth-most in the NFL. Geno may have to sling it a bunch to keep Seattle in the game, so I like him to find the endzone twice at plus odds.
Seahawks and Geno Smith Cover vs. Steelers (-110)
The more this line has crept towards the Steelers, the more I like Smith and the Seahawks to cover.
BetSided’s Iain MacMillan shared his pick for tonight’s game, and he likes the Seahawks as well.
Geno made things interesting against a much-better Rams team last week, so I’ll take him to cover against a Steelers team that has been less than impressive this season.
Geno Smith OVER 18.5 Rushing Yards (-125)
T.J. Watt and the Steelers’ pass rush are going to try and get after Smith to disrupt him in his first start since the 2017 season.
That means the veteran may have to improvise, and he averaged 22.9 and 17.0 yards per game on the ground in his two years as a starter with the New York Jets. Last week, Smith got loose for 23 yards on three carries, and I think 18.5 is a great chance to take the over this week.
