Despite being a handful of months into the 2021-22 PGA Tour season, and there already being three events held in the 2022 calendar year, many people view the Farmers Insurance Open as the true start to the golf season as most of the top names in the sport will be competing at the historic Torrey Pines this week.

I've already previewed the event and given out my top three picks to win, which you can check out here, but as always, I'm also going to provide a few dark horse bets for you aggressive bettors who like to sprinkle on a few long shots.

All odds listed below are via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Dark Horse Bets to Win the Farmers Insurance Open

Luke List +6600

Luke List actually has shorter odds than one of the picks I gave out in my betting preview article, but I think he still qualifies as a dark horse at 66/1.

He's also FanSided's Cody Williams favorite long shot bet to win this week, so I'm happy that we're in agreement. This is what he had to say about List in his own betting preview for the event:

"Much like many of the players the analytics community loves, List is a dynamo with his driver and irons — both of which fit Torrey Pines — but is a negative with the putter. With that said, he’s traditionally been noticeably better on Poa annua greens like we’ll see at this course, even if he’s still not elite by any stretch. That slight uptick, however, is enough for me to give him a look as a longshot pick to pop up and take the Farmers."

You can also bet on him to finish in the Top 20 at +300.

Jhonattan Vegas +9000

Jhonattan Vegas is a popular bet this week amongst those who are deep into analytics. He's a fantastic driver of the golf ball, ranking seventh in driving distance and third in strokes gained: off-the-tee, which is going to be a huge advantage at Torrey Pines.

If he can get hot with his putter this week, there's a good chance he'll be in the mix on the weekend.

He's available to wager on to finish in the Top 20 at +350.

Taylor Pendrith +20000

If you're looking for a long shot bet to win at Torrey Pines, looking at the list of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour is a good place to start. Taylor Pendrith is one of the first names you'll see on the list, ranking 11th in driving distance heading into this week.

He got off to a hot start this season, making the cut in his first four events and capping it off with a T5 at the Bermuda Championship. He's missed the cut the last two weeks, which is why we're getting such a good price on him this week. If he can dial in his irons, he's a sneaky good play at 200/1.

He's also a great bet to finish in the top 20 this week. WynnBET has him listed at +800 to do just that.
