Alabama Proved Why It's the King of College Football in Dominant Win vs. Miami

We are all really dumb for thinking the result of this game would have been anything different.

Alabama just obliterated Miami from start to finish in its Week 1 opening game of the 2021 college football season, beating them by a score of 44-13.

The line for the game closed at 19.5 at WynnBET, and I don’t know how or why we didn’t all bet everything we had (responsibly) on the Crimson Tide steamrolling the Hurricanes. In hindsight, this result was so obvious it hurts.

Alabama is the powerhouse of college football, year in and year out. Why did we think that Miami from the ACC would be competitive?

Don’t forget, even though the line for the game closed at 19.5, it was available at 14.5 for the majority of the offseason.

Yes, Alabama lost eight starters from last year’s National Championship team, but we should have known that Nick Saban would have eight different guys ready to step in and be just as good, if not better than their predecessors.

One of the scariest things about the game was how good the Alabama defense was. If the team had a weakness in last year’s undefeated season, it was that its defense was susceptible to giving up points. Well, Miami didn’t score a touchdown today until 5:18 left in the third quarter.

Bryce Young, who has taken over as the starting quarterback for the team from Mac Jones, who was just named the starter for the New England Patriots, looked like he needed no time to adjust before playing at the level of those who came before him.

He finished the game completing 27 of 38 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he takes over as the betting favorite to win the Heisman after Spencer Rattler’s subpar performance against Tulane. Young was +1000 to win the award ahead of today’s games.

Alabama will take on Mercer next weekend, and then it will begin its SEC schedule against the Florida Gators on September 18th. Expect them to become an even bigger favorite to win the National Championship when Week 1 is all said and done.
