Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk Odds: AJ Has Tough Test in Undefeated Usyk
We aren’t going to see the long-awaited boxing match between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, at least not yet.
Instead, Fury will be taking on Deontay Wilder in a trilogy fight, and Joshua will take on undefeated Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk.
We may still eventually see a Joshua vs Fury fight which would give us the first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, but both fighters will need to get through their opponents in front of them first.
That may not be an easy task, especially for Joshua.
WynnBET has odds set for the fight, and Anthony Joshua is set as a -275 favorite which gives him an implied probability of winning of 73.33%. Usyk is set as the +200 (bet $100 to profit $200) underdog.
AJ lost his heavyweight championship belts back in June of 2019 against Andy Ruiz Jr., in what many people consider one of the greatest upsets of all time.
Six months later, Joshua righted his wrongs and defeated Ruiz Jr. in the rematch to re-claim his status of world champion.
Joshua followed up the performance with a KO win over Kubrat Pulev in December of 2020.
After his scheduled bout with Fury was cancelled for the time being due to Wilder enacting his rematch clause, Joshua will now take on an underrated Usyk on September 25th at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in his home country of England.
Usyk enters the fight with an undefeated 18-0 record. Not only is he undefeated, but 13 of his 18 wins have come with the fight ending early. He’s a dangerous fighter that could end Joshua’s night with a single punch. His last fight came in October 2020 when he defeated Derek Chisora via unanimous decision.
Outside of Joshua’s rematch with Ruiz Jr., this is the longest his odds have been a favorite since his 2017 bout against Wladimir Klitschko.
