Bears Offense is Playing at Historically Bad Level
By Peter Dewey
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy is on as about as hot of a seat as you can get in the NFL, and it’s for good reason.
The Bears are just 4-8, but more importantly, Nagy’s offense has been historically bad. The Bears are averaging just 4.9 yards per play and are dead last in the NFL in passing yards (2,085) with Andy Dalton and Justin Fields at the helm.
The Bears are so bad in fact, that they are averaging fewer passing yards per game than the team did in the 1940s!
It’s a nightmare scenario for the Bears who have really messed up Fields’ rookie season with Nagy’s clearly ineffective offense. Both the rookie and Dalton have struggled in their reps this season.
Fields is averaging just 136.1 passing yards per game and has four touchdowns to eight interceptions in eight starts. Dalton hasn’t been much better, throwing for 169.5 yards per game, six scores and six picks.
The rookie will get the nod in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers, but that shouldn't excite bettors looking to take the Bears, as Chicago is just 2-6 in Fields’ starts this year.
WynnBET has Chicago as a 12.5-point underdog in Week 14, but the line has moved from 13.5 points before Fields was announced as the starter.
The Packers are one of the best teams in the NFL, and they have covered in all but two of their games this season. Unless Nagy’s offense does a complete flip from the first 13 weeks of the season, the Bears are going to remain in the basement of the NFC.
