Like a kid on Christmas Eve, I'm counting down the hours (minutes, honestly) until the 2022 British Open Championship gets underway tomorrow morning at 1:35 AM EST.
We've got a ton of coverage here at BetSided, including but not limited to power rankings, best bets, a weather report, and dark horse picks.
But now it's time to survey the prop market and find those last few winning wagers to add to our bet slip at WynnBET Sportsbook.
Using odds from those fine folks at WynnBET, here are my favorite prop bets for the 150th Open Championship:
Best 2022 British Open Championship Prop Bets
Xander Shauffele Top 20 (-120)
It's difficult to imagine Xander not finishing in the top 20. He's the hottest golfer in the field with wins in back-to-back starts and seven consecutive top-18 finishes.
Xander Schauffele is the 6th player in the last 10 seasons to enter a major coming off wins in back-to-back PGA Tour starts:
— Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) July 10, 2022
2013 Woods - Masters - T4
2014 McIlroy - PGA - Won
2015 Spieth - Open - T4
2016 Day - Masters - T10
2016 D. Johnson - Open - T-9
2022 Schauffele - Open
He's stellar on approach shots and around-the-green while being the best sand save player on Tour. The potentially windy conditions won't bother him, and we know Xander can compete at The Open given his T2 finish in 2018.
This feels like Xander's best chance yet to capture his first major. I expect him to be in contention, so -120 odds on a top-20 finish feels like an easy bet.
Will Zalatoris Top 20 (+140)
Most strokes gained total per round in the majors since beginning of 2020 (min. 12 rounds played):
— Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) July 11, 2022
Will Zalatoris, 2.73
Scottie Scheffler, 2.42
Jon Rahm, 2.19
Collin Morikawa, 2.16
Dustin Johnson, 2.15
Zalatoris is the most consistently great major player in the field, despite all the heartbreak he's endured lately. He missed the cut at the Scottish Open last week but prior to that had six top-six finishes in his last eight events.
Leading the Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach and Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green while being one of the longest drivers on Tour, Zalatoris has the perfect combination of skills for the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Is this the week for @WillZalatoris?

I'll be stunned if he performs poorly. Thus, +140 odds on a Zalatoris top-20 finish is another simple bet for me here.
Tommy Fleetwood Top 20 (+150)
Fleetwood is a dark horse I've been targeting all week. He's coming off a T4 result at the Scottish Open and took second here back in 2019.
With sustained winds of over 20 mp/h expected for the Scottish Open here are the top golfers in "Worst" weather conditions.
— NinetoFiveSports (@925_Sports) July 6, 2022
1) Viktor Hovland
2) Tommy Fleetwood
3) Jon Rahm
4) Cameron Smith
5) JT
6) Danny Willett
7) Matt Fitzpatrick
8) Sepp Straka
9) Alex Noren
10) Cantlay
One of the best wedge players on Tour while also excelling in windy conditions, Fleetwood is a perfect course fit with two top-14 finishes at majors already this year. Don't be surprised to see Tommy make a run on Sunday.
Tony Finau Top 20 (+200)
Another dark horse I like, Finau took top-10 in each of the last two British Open Championships and seems to always perform well at these kinds of courses.
Most strokes gained total per round, seaside courses in British Isles - DP World + PGA Tour since 2015:
— Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) July 11, 2022
Jordan Spieth, 2.54
Brooks Koepka, 2.00
Xander Schauffele, 1.93
Tony Finau, 1.92
Zach Johnson, 1.92
Finau ranks 19th in Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee, 15th in Strokes Gained: Approach, and ninth in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
With three top-14 finishes over his last four tournaments, Finau is in great form and should be in position to cash a plus money top-20 prop.
Justin Thomas Top 10 (+240)
Thomas is my pick to win The Open. He's got three top-five finishes in his last six starts with a game that fits this course perfectly.
There are simply no holes to Thomas' game. He's third in Strokes Gained: Total, fourth in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, and sixth in Strokes Gained: Approach. As a bonus, he's stellar with the driver, excels in the wind and leads the Tour in Par 4 Performance.
I think Thomas going to win and will happily take the +240 odds on a finish in the top 10.
