Daily Dinger: Best Home Run Prop Bet Picks for Monday, April 25 (Phillies' Bats Ready to Erupt vs. Rockies)
By Ben Heisler
The BetSided Daily Dinger home run prop bet picks win streak came to an end on Sunday, as Ben Heisler's pick of Patrick Wisdom, and Peter Dewey's selection of Nick Solak failed to leave the yard.
But that's not deterring us from getting back on the board today.
Seven games are on the slate on Monday evening, and three of us have the Rockies and Phillies matchup from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia circled as a destination spot for dingers.
Let's go rake!
Over the 2022 season, the BetSided team of editors debate and share our best home run prop bet picks of the day in Major League Baseball.
WynnBET Sportsbook offers home run odds for several players in each MLB matchup, but not all players mentioned in the article are always available. Bettors can still wager on all these games as well as take advantage of several other unique prop bet opportunities.
Odds shown are consensus. If listed as TBD, it means odds have not been made available as of this writing.
Best Home Run Picks for Monday, April 25
- Nick Castellanos (+425)
- Rhys Hoskins (+295)
- Marcus Semien (+450)
Nick Castellanos (+425) - Colorado Rockies vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Nick Castellanos is off to a hot start for the Philadelphia Phillies, hitting .317 with three homers and nine runs batted in through the first 16 games of this season.
Castellanos and the Phillies get an easy matchup on Monday against Colorado Rockies struggling lefty Kyle Freeland. Our own Reed Wallach already pointed out that the Phillies crush left-handed pitching, and Castellanos is no exception as he is a career .303 hitter against lefties (.271 against righties). Castellanos’ slugging percentage also increases from .470 to .539 when he faces left handers, and Freeland has allowed 12 runs and one homer in just 14 innings of work this season.
Don’t be surprised if the Phillies slugger jumps on Freeland early in this one. -- Peter Dewey
The Phillies are playing in their own hitter-friendly ball park Citizens Bank Park and face left-handed starter Kyle Freeland on Monday night.
Castellanos rakes against lefties, hitting .303 for his career and slugging .579. He's always dangerous for a big fly and this number has trickled past +400 so I'll take a shot at him going deep on Monday against a vulnerable starter and iffy bullpen. -- Reed Wallach
Rhys Hoskins (+295) - Colorado Rockies vs. Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies first baseman appears to be in a slump at the dish, but oddsmakers are hinting at him getting out of it sooner rather than later at only +295 odds to leave the yard.
Hoskins, despite a .196 batting average and a .373 SLG percentage so far this year is actually making very good contact when the bat hits the ball. According to MLB Statcast data, Hoskins actually has the highest barrel percentage on the Phillies roster at 15.2%.
The matchup is perfect against left-hander Kyle Freeland, as Hoskins has the best splits of his career against left-handed pitching at home. Freeland has also struggled so far this year giving up 12 earned runs and 20 hits in just 14 innings of work.
Look for the Phillies to take out some anger from Sunday night's umpire debacle into tonight. -- Ben Heisler
Marcus Semien (+450) - Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers
Marcus Semien hit 45 dingers last season, and finished third in AL MVP voting. I refuse to believe his dinger-less 2022 campaign will continue much longer, and he's in a good spot today against Astros starter Framber Valdez.
His OPS jumps from .445 to .593 when you compare his numbers against righties to his numbers against lefties this season, so the fact that he's facing a lefty tonight in Valdez helps his case quite a bit.
Semien will hit his first home run of 2022 tonight. -- Iain MacMillan
