Daily Dinger: Best Home Run Prop Bet Picks Today (It's Home Run Derby Day in Cincinnati for Wilson vs. Minor)
After a weekend away to get ready for the start of the NFL season, the "Daily Dinger" contest makes it triumphant return this Monday to help add a little juice to the start of the week.
Iain MacMillan kept the fun going our last time out, selecting Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa to leave the yard, getting our guy to double digits on the season.
Tonight, we're targeting an AL MVP candidate in Cleveland, while also taking advantage of one of the worst pitching matchups of the season between Bryse Wilson and Mike Minor when the Cincinnati Reds host the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Sometimes with betting, you CAN make chicken salad out of, well, you know...

Best Home Run Picks Today
Shohei Ohtani (+300) - Los Angeles Angels vs. Cleveland Guardians
My pleas for Ohtani to receive MVP consideration may fall on deaf ears, but I might as well recoup my inevitable losses on those bets by backing him to go yard.
He has an OPS north of 1.000 over the last month while smacking eight homers. He is capable against lefties, who he is facing in Konnor Pilkington on Monday night, but he also will get reps against a middling Guardians bullpen.
He went yard Sunday, he’s going yard again, he’s going to run down Judge for MVP, I’m going to speak it into existence. - Reed Wallach

Jonathan India - Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
The Cincinnati Reds get to host the Pittsburgh Pirates and starting pitcher Bryse Wilson tonight. Reds batters should be licking their lips as they get set to face Wilson, who has absolutely sucked as of late.
He has given up at least three earned runs in five straight starts, while allowing an average of 1.7 home runs per nine innings.
I’m going to back Jonathan India to hit a home run today. The 2021 AL Rookie of the Year has only hit 10 home runs this season, but he had missed a good chunk of the year. We should see some positive regression when it comes to home runs as we enter the final stretch of the season. – Iain MacMillan

Rodolfo Castro (+350) - Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds
It’s Mike Minor night in Cincinnati, and while he’s been better over his last three starts, the larger sample of the full season cannot be ignored.
Sure, he only allowed one earned run to the Chicago Cubs in his previous start, but he also gave up 10 hits in 5.2 innings. The veteran left-hander is still allowing a full two home runs per nine innings, and still sports an ERA above 6 in his home park.
Castro has hit three of his seven home runs vs. left-handed pitching, despite more than half of his at-bats coming vs. right-handed pitching. His isolated power, or ISO, goes from below league average at .129 vs. right-handers, to nearly double league average vs. lefties at .273.
The bulk of the year, fading Minor to make “Daily Dinger” selections against him as worked. I can’t move away from it now, nor will I.
