I went golfing last night and the course marshal told us to leave once it got dark. Realizing an opportunity to deflect instead of accept my own culpability, I quickly pointed out there were still golfers behind us. Why waste an opportunity for a good "What About Them?" moment, right?

Not so fast. The marshal told me those players were members and had their own golf cart. We were using the course's cart naturally, and the poor workers wanted to go home. Silly me.

Ignoring my selfishness, I realized that meant I needed to conjure up funds to buy a golf cart. That's the goal of today's MLB parlay: to buy a friggin' golf cart.

Let's jump into it. Using odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, here are my favorite MLB parlay picks of the day:

Best MLB Parlay Picks Today

Cardinals vs Reds Over 10.5 (-110)

Oddsmakers can't make this total high enough. The over hit in each of the St. Louis Cardinals' last five games and that trend should continue with Dakota Hudson taking on Justin Dunn and the Cincinnati Reds.

Hudson is terrible, sporting a 5.05 ERA on the road with a disastrous MLB Statcast Pitching Profile:

That barrel percentage is nice, but otherwise, yuck. Luckily for Hudson though, he has MLB's hottest lineup backing him up. The Cardinals should have no problem scoring in droves against Justin Dunn, whose 7.32 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) would easily be the worst in baseball if he had enough innings to qualify.

Cincinnati has the worst bullpen ERA in MLB, so there's not exactly strong reinforcements supporting Dunn either. With favorable weather conditions in store, look for the over to improve to 7-1 in Hudson's last eight road starts as both pitching staffs struggle.

Dodgers (-141) vs Mets

There's a lot of reasons to like the Los Angeles Dodgers today, and the odds already moved from -134 to -141 since I wrote up a preview this morning.

I don't blame Andrew Heaney for preferring the sunny California skies to the crowded frenzy of New York, and the Dodgers are 5-1 in his last six starts. He's got an expected FIP below 2.50 in each of his last three starts, while the New York Mets are 26th in OPS against left-handed pitchers in August.

Taijuan Walker's discouraging performances of late are the biggest reason to back Los Angeles though. Here's his expected FIP from his last six starts:

  • 8/23 @ NYY: 4.89
  • 8/16 @ ATL: 7.59
  • 8/10 vs CIN: 5.17
  • 8/05 vs ATL: 13.46
  • 7/31 @ MIA: 5.10
  • 7/26 vs NYY: 5.08

Marco Gonzales' 4.88 expected FIP is the worst among all qualified starters, so Walker has been MLB's worst starting pitcher for over a month. Back the Dodgers to pick up an MLB-best 90th win in a potential playoff preview.

Braves -1.5 (-170) vs Rockies

José Ureña gave up nine runs to the Texas Rangers in only 1.1 innings of work in his last start, bringing his August ERA to 7.88. The Colorado Rockies are 1-6 over his previous seven outings, and his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile is not for the faint of heart:

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves are 8-1 in Max Fried's last nine home starts, as he's held his opponent to three runs or fewer in 21 of 24 appearances. To really drive the point home, look at Fried's MLB Statcast Pitching Profile now:

Atlanta rolls today to take advantage of the Mets' difficult matchup with the Dodgers in a competitive NL East race.

Mariners (-170) vs Tigers

George Kirby is becoming one of MLB's best-kept secrets, as he's among baseball's most consistent starters over the last two months.

Kirby posted an expected FIP below 3.89 in every one of those eight starts, and the Detroit Tigers are 27th in OPS against right-handed pitchers this month. I like what I've seen from Matt Manning for Detroit, but his expected FIP sits at 4.10 and Seattle's lineup hits his pitch arsenal well.

In a competitive AL Wild Card race, the Mariners need these wins. We'll get a fully-focused effort from the group, and I'm banking on Seattle to improve to 15-3 in its last 18 games as road favorites.

Royals (+117) vs White Sox

Speaking of well-kept secrets, Brady Singer has a 2.29 ERA since the start of July as the Kansas City Royals are 8-2 in his last 10 starts. He's been spectacular and loves facing the Chicago White Sox. In Singer's previous six outings against his divisional foe, he's got a 1.79 ERA.

Vibes are real bad in Chicago too. The club is 1-6 in its last seven as a favorite and Lucas Giolito has a 6.71 ERA at home. At the least, Giolito shouldn't be favored against the rising Singer.

The White Sox are an angry kid who throws the Monopoly board across the room once it realizes its losing. Things are falling apart quickly, and I'm happy to fade Chicago against a superior pitcher that relishes faces it.

MLB Parlay for August 30, 2022

The "Let's Buy a Golf Cart!" Parlay (+1707)

  • Cardinals vs Reds Over 10.5 (-105)
  • Dodgers (-141) vs Mets
  • Braves -1.5 (-170) vs Rockies
  • Mariners (-170) vs Tigers
  • Royals (+117) vs White Sox

We've got a real doozy today. I love the value in each matchup, and odds of +1707 pay out $426.82 on a $25 bet. Admittedly, I don't know how much a golf cart costs, but I'd like to imagine that's all I need with a few coupons.

If you're not feeling quite so adventurous, pick your favorite plays to form your own parlay at WynnBET. Maybe you can get a Hot Wheels golf cart or something cool like that.

Whichever path you choose, I wish you the best of luck. Let's get after it!
