I really thought we had it yesterday, losing the parlay by the hook on our first five innings under. Thanks a lot, Spencer Strider, I thought we had something special.

Nonetheless, we were so, so close and that only intensifies my desire to cash today's massive MLB parlay. We've got a light, seven-game slate today, but the board still oozes with value.

I've poured over the data and the BetSided previews for each matchup, so it's time to rock an' roll. Using odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, here are my favorite MLB parlay picks of the day:

Best MLB Parlay Picks Today

Orioles (+122) vs Blue Jays

We should take any opportunity we have to fade Yusei Kikuchi, who is one of MLB's worst starters by any measure. His 5.82 expected ERA ranks second-worst among all qualified pitchers and the Blue Jays have four straight losses on the road behind him.

Just look at Kikuchi's MLB Statcast Pitching Profile and tell me you feel comfortable backing him as a favorite:

The first percentile in average exit velocity, hard hit percentage and barrel percentage? Holy smokes, that's horrendous. In five of Kikuchi's last seven starts, he has a FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) over 10.12. It's almost comical how bad his metrics are.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Orioles won five of Jordan Lyles' last six starts as he's compiled a stellar 2.68 ERA at home. Over his last three outings, that ERA is down to 2.12 and Lyles has a FIP under 3.97 in five of his last seven starts.

Baltimore is 7-3 in its last 10 games as a home underdog. Trust the better pitcher with Lyles and the Orioles.

Athletics (-115) vs Angels

We saw this matchup unfold last week in Los Angeles, with Jose Suarez outdueling Cole Irvin in an Angels win. However, I think the Oakland Athletics get revenge at home.

Irvin is a certified monster at home, compiling a 1.73 ERA while throwing five consecutive quality starts. While Jose Suarez is pitching well, he hasn't thrown six innings in a start since June and Los Angeles' bullpen can be taken advantage of.

The Athletics' lineup is heating up too, ranking eighth in OPS over the last three weeks while the Angels are 22nd.

Trust Irvin at home to earn a victory for Oakland.

Diamondbacks (-240) vs Pirates

Tyler Beede makes his second start for the Pittsburgh Pirates in what will be a bullpen day. His first start did not go well, as Beede allowed four runs in just 1.1 innings to Milwaukee. He ranks in the 12th percentile in expected batting average and 22nd in walk rate, and Pittsburgh's poor bullpen won't be able to mitigate the damage.

The Arizona Diamondbacks rank ninth in OPS over the last three weeks and the Pirates are a terrible 29th. Thus, Arizona has a considerable advantage offensively and on the mound.

Zac Gallen has an impressive 3.23 ERA at home as the Diamondbacks won each of his last three starts.

The Pirates are 2-8 in their last 10 as road underdogs and I don't see them emerging victorious in this one.

Mariners (-103) vs Yankees

The New York Yankees have three straight losses as road favorites and I'm concerned about Jameson Taillon. He has a 4.47 ERA on the road and just gave up five runs to these Mariners while walking four batters in just 4.2 innings.

Over Taillon's last three road starts, he has a 9.00 ERA. With a FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) over 4.99 in four of his last six outings, Taillon is showing no reason to trust him as a road favorite.

Logan Gilbert, meanwhile, has a 3.19 ERA at home and the Mariners are 10-3 in his last 13 starts.

I think this is likely to be a high-scoring game, but I trust Seattle at home behind Gilbert.

MLB Parlay for August 8, 2022

The "Intense Desire" Parlay (+1059)

  • Orioles (+122) vs Blue Jays
  • Athletics (-115) vs Angels
  • Diamondbacks (-240) vs Pirates
  • Mariners (-103) vs Yankees

Bada bing, bada boom! Odds of +1059 pays out $264.70 on a $25 bet over at WynnBET and I'm confident in the betting angles for each of these picks.

It's only a matter of time before we nail one - I'm not going to miss out.

Best of luck as always, and let's get after it!
