There's a great deal of history at stake today. No silly, I'm not talking about the final round of the 150th British Open Championship.

Alas, this is the first and only time we'll ever have the chance to cash a glorious parlay on July 17, 2022. I'm not one to laugh at history, so I've come prepared with only the finest bet selections from this 14-game MLB slate.

I've poured over the data and absorbed the information in the BetSided previews for each game, so I'm ready to get after it.

Using the odds from WynnBET, here are my favorite MLB parlay picks of the day:

Best MLB Parlay Picks Today

Braves -1.5 (-170) vs Nationals

What, did you expect anything less on Spencer Strider day? The dude is unbelievable. He's striking out 38.9% of batters with a 1.80 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) that would lead MLB if he had enough innings to qualify. Over his last four starts, Strider allowed just two runs.

Meanwhile, Washington is starting someone named Erasmo Ramirez. Erasmo sounds like a knock-off Wite-Out brand. He's not taking Strider down.

The Braves are one of the hottest teams in MLB while the Nationals are 1-15 in their last 16. Just take Strider and don't blink. If you do, you may miss two more strikeouts.

Phillies (-135) vs Marlins

Aaron Nola gives the Phillies a massive advantage over Trevor Rogers and Miami today. He's in the 86th percentile in expected ERA with a 2.61 ERA on the road, while Rogers is in the 24th percentile in expected ERA with a 7.27 ERA at home.

Miami's lineup ranks a pathetic 28th in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last three weeks and Nola held them to two runs over seven innings last month. The next day, Philadelphia lit Rogers up for four runs in 3.2 innings while drawing six walks.

The Marlins have struggled as home underdogs all season, including winning just once in their last seven tries. Trust in the mismatch Nola provides and roll with the visitors.

White Sox (-118) vs Twins

Just like Nola gives us an edge with the Phillies, Dylan Cease gives us a massive advantage over Chris Archer. Cease is on an obscene stretch, allowing one run or fewer in nine consecutive starts while compiling a 0.53 ERA in that span.

Archer, meanwhile, has a 4.85 expected ERA and hasn't thrown more than five innings in a single start this year.

The White Sox are 6-1 in their last seven as road favorites while the Twins are 2-10 in their last dozen as home underdogs. Cease should keep the magic going and give Chicago the series win.

Giants (-138) vs Brewers

We've got no choice but to back Logan Webb at home. Dating back to 2020, the Giants are 21-2 in his last 23 home starts. He's got a 2.37 ERA at AT&T Park this year and allowed one run or fewer in five of his last six outings.

He's been superb. And while I like what I've seen from Aaron Ashby too, the Giants have the third-highest OPS against left-handed pitchers over the last three weeks and are built to take advantage of Ashby's weakness.

Ashby ranks in the 20th percentile in walk rate and San Francisco averages the third-most walks per game in MLB. With Webb's dominant ability holding the Brewers' bats at bay, I think the Giants scratch enough runs across the plate to give us a win at home in the bay.

MLB Parlay for July 17, 2022

The "Let's Make History" Parlay (+781)

  • Braves -1.5 (-170) vs Nationals
  • Phillies (-135) vs Marlins
  • White Sox (-118) vs Twins
  • Giants (-138) vs Brewers

Now that, folks, is how history is made. We've got four starting pitchers giving us an edge in each matchup and I love the value we've put together here.
