Best MLB Parlay Picks Today (Reds, Guardians, Tigers, & Rangers Ready for Glory)
By Joe Summers
I've been looking forward to today since last Friday, when our "Fridays are for the 'dogs" parlay cashed at +1201 odds. My pup, Kemba, is laying next to me as I type this, but I'm ready to revel in the value of several underdogs on today's MLB slate.
It's a lovely day to secure another huge payday, and I've poured over the BetSided previews to ensure we've got the best possible parlay.
Let's turn this Friday success into a habit, shall we? Using odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, here are my favorite MLB parlay picks of the day:
Best MLB Parlay Picks Today
Reds First Five Innings (-120) vs Pirates
Graham Ashcraft remains one of my favorite pitchers to back, and he gives the Cincinnati Reds an edge over Bryse Wilson and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ashcraft has a 1.77 ERA this month and should dominate a poor Pittsburgh lineup that ranks 29th in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last three weeks. The Reds aren't great offensively, but Wilson is dreadful. He's got a 7.50 ERA at home and his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile is an unmitigated disaster:
Yuck. While I don't feel comfortable trusting Cincy's bullpen, I'm thrilled to back Ashcraft in the first five innings as Wilson implodes.
Tigers (+121) vs Angels
The Los Angeles Angels are 4-7 in their last 11 games as favorites, while the Detroit Tigers just played Cleveland close and frankly, should have won the series instead of splitting it 2-2. Matt Manning has a 0.69 ERA at home, allowing just one run over 13 innings, and the Tigers' pitching staff as a whole has been impressive.
On the other end, Patrick Sandoval has an expected FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) above 5.17 in each of his last two starts and the Angels are 1-7 in his last eight outings.
I'll take any opportunity I can to fade Los Angeles as a favorite, and the Tigers handle left-handed pitching well enough to feel confident.
Guardians (-128) vs White Sox
The Cleveland Guardians are favored here, but Triston McKenzie got that dog in him so it still counts for today's parlay.
McKenzie has a 1.83 ERA since the end of June and looks exceptional. Cleveland is 18-6 in its last 24 games as a home favorite and have a favorable matchup against Lance Lynn, who has a 7.46 ERA on the road.
The last time Lynn pitched in Cleveland, the Guardians scored eight runs in four innings. Expect more of the same as the Chicago White Sox fall further out of the AL Central race.
Rangers (+124) vs Twins
The Texas Rangers are 10-1 in Martin Perez's road starts, as he's been a spectacular addition to their rotation this year. At the least, Perez gives Texas the upper hand over Dylan Bundy, behind whom the Minnesota Twins have lost 12 of 17.
Bundy has an expected FIP above 4.28 in four of his last five starts, including three above 5.05. He had a 5.92 ERA last month and his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile inspires little confidence:
I believe Texas benefitted from addition by subtraction with the firing of manager Chris Woodward, whose mystifying decisions hurt the Rangers all season. Trust Perez as an underdog as Bundy unravels and Texas picks up the road victory.
MLB Parlay for August 19, 2022
The "Fridays are Still for the 'Dogs" Parlay (+1517)
- Reds First Five Innings (-120) vs Pirates
- Tigers (+121) vs Angels
- Guardians (-128) vs White Sox
- Rangers (+124) vs Twins
Bang bang, it's beautiful! Odds of +1517 pay out $379.15 on a $25 bet, and I feel great about our chances to secure a second consecutive Friday cash.
Be sure to check out the BetSided previews as you make your wagers at WynnBET, but keep these plays in mind while you do. It's only right to end the week accordingly, eh?
Best of luck as always - let's get after it!
