We've got just over a month until MLB's regular season ends and we move to the playoffs. I'm thrilled for these next few weeks of intense games with huge implications, and the parlays we cash will be ever sweeter thanks to the stakes.

There's a light, nine-game MLB slate today but several matchups still caught my eye with value. Everyone's gearing up for football, but we've got plenty of opportunities to nail some massive paydays.

Using odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, here are my favorite MLB parlay picks of the day:

Best MLB Parlay Picks Today

Royals (+141) vs White Sox

My man Ben Heisler shared this gem in our Slack channel this morning:

I was already considering betting the Kansas City Royals, but now I'm all-in. Daniel Lynch is pitching well right now, compiling a 2.82 ERA this month, and has a history of success against the Chicago White Sox. In two starts against his divisional foe this year, Lynch threw 11.2 scoreless innings while striking out 17 and issuing two walks.

White Sox starter Michael Kopech has an expected FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) above 4.29 in three of his last four starts, and his erratic command leads to disaster quickly. Chicago is 4-8 in his last 12 starts, and Kansas City's lineup can take advantage.

The Royals are 8-3 in their last 11 games as home underdogs while the White Sox are 3-6 in their last nine as road favorites. Take the value on Lynch and Kansas City to pull off the victory.

Mets (-153) vs Yankees

It's been a miserable month for the New York Yankees, in the midst of a 4-14 stretch with a suddenly anemic lineup. The Yankees rank 28th in OPS against right-handed pitchers in August and things won't get easier against Max Scherzer and the New York Mets tonight.

Just take a peak at Scherzer's MLB Statcast Pitching Profile and imagine the despair on Yankees' manager Aaron Boone's face:

The Mets are 25-5 in Scherzer's last 30 starts, while the Yankees are 2-4 in Domingo Germán's outings this year. Germán is not on Scherzer's level, and the Yankees' are not on the Mets' level, either.

Back Scherzer at a short price as the Mets improve to 12-4 in their last 16 as road favorites.

Marlins First Five Innings (-145) vs Athletics

Make sure to set a reminder every fifth day to bet the Miami Marlins' first five innings moneyline every time Edward Cabrera pitches. The guy is incredible, and is a pitcher I want to back the rest of this season and well into next.

Cabrera is a destroyer of lineups, and faces a weak Oakland Athletics' one today that pales in comparison to the Phillies and Padres, who he held scoreless over his last two starts.

Adam Oller is, um, not quite so good. Here's his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile:

Trust Cabrera over this heaping pile of blue and back the Marlins in the first five.

Dodgers -1.5 (-115) vs Brewers

There's a scene in Breaking Bad when Jesse, referring to drug lord Walter White, screams in despair, "HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!"

That's how I feel every time Eric Lauer pitches for the Milwaukee Brewers. Despite strong box score statistics and a 2.70 ERA in August, Lauer is due for huge negative regression. He's had an expected FIP above 4.30 in six straight starts, including four above 4.95. Lauer is terrible - he's just apparently very lucky. Would you like to know who isn't lucky, just good?

Julio Urias, that's who. The Los Angeles Dodgers have 11 consecutive wins on the run line behind him, and his underlying metrics support his stellar play.

Milwaukee has five straight losses as road underdogs and that misery should continue against Urias. Finally, Lauer's penance is coming. Don't miss out on lovely odds for Los Angeles to deliver it.

MLB Parlay for August 22, 2022

The "High Stakes" Parlay (+1159)

  • Royals (+141) vs White Sox
  • Mets (-153) vs Yankees
  • Marlins First Five Innings (-145) vs Athletics
  • Dodgers -1.5 (-115) vs Brewers

Now this is a lovely parlay! Odds of +1159 pay out $289.72 on a $25 bet. That being said, if you're feeling a bit risk-averse, then parlaying the Marlins first five innings with the Dodgers' run line still gives odds of +216 over at WynnBET.

Whichever direction you choose, it's a great day to make some great bank.

Best of luck - let's get after it!
