Week 0 of the college football season has arrived.

It's the time of the year when powerhouses schedule cupcakes to beat up on while they prepare for the real tests later in the year.

For example, the Florida State Seminoles are a 40 point favorite against Duquesne this week. That’s what you get at the beginning of the football season, but also at the end of the baseball season. Teams that traded away their best players at the deadline have turned themselves into cupcakes or punching bags for the playoff bound teams to take care of.

So, in honor of football season coming back we have the “College Football Cupcakes” MLB parlay today. I hit on my last MLB parlay writeup at BetSided, so let’s make it back-to-back parlays.

Best MLB Parlay Picks Today

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-115) at Miami Marlins

This is like Alabama scheduling an FCS, if that FCS team had a future first-round pick at quarterback. The Marlins are not a good team, but they do have Sandy Alcantara on the mound. The NL Cy Young favorite has been great all year and has a 2.19 ERA in 25 starts, but was shelled by LA last time out. The Dodgers got him for six runs and 10 hits.

Alcantara probably won’t be that bad again, he hasn’t done anything like that all season, but LA does have his number and his fielding independent pitching indicates that the regression may continue. His FIP is up at 2.86 and was around that number even when his ERA was well under two.

The Dodgers are the class of the league and will find a way to beat the Marlins even with Alcantara pitching.

New York Mets -1.5 (-115) vs. Colorado Rockies

Kyle Freeland goes for Colorado and will have a tough time against New York. The Mets have a team OPS of .800 the past week. Freeland has allowed 16 runs in 22.1 innings in August and the Rockies are 1-3 in those four starts. Freeland has a 4.93 ERA and is opposed by David Peterson for New York and his 3.44 ERA.

The Mets are a great team and bounced back with two wins over Colorado after dropping both games of the subway series. They will continue that run today.

San Diego Padres -1.5 (-135) at Royals

The Padres beat on Kansas City yesterday in a 13-5 win. They did it against a young left-handed pitcher and the worst bullpen in the MLB. Today they face Daniel Lynch, a young left-handed pitcher who does not go deep into games. The Royals bullpen isn’t just bad, but it is also taxed after yesterday when six relievers had to pitch. San Diego can get to Lynch early and blow it open from there.

Not to mention they have Yu Darvish on the mound with a 3.36 ERA. Darvish lost his last start but went 8.1 innings and only gave up three. The Padres bats were slumping five days ago, but yesterday shows that they have life.

Yankees -1.5 (-130) at Athletics

The Yankees are another team that is a huge favorite on the road against a cupcake. This is one of the biggest cupcakes of all. The Oakland A’s have dropped the first two games against the Yankees and are now 46-81.

All of the sudden, New York has won five in a row and Aaron Judge keeps crushing home runs. He hit No. 49 last night and could easily get 50 today. Adam Oller is the starter for Oakland and has a 6.41 ERA he gives up nearly two homers per nine innings.
