Best MLB Prop Bets Today

  • Orioles vs. Angels First 5 Innings: UNDER 5 Runs (-115)
  • Robbie Ray OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-125)

Orioles vs. Angels First 5 Innings: UNDER 5 Runs (-115)

We’ve got two teams on the complete opposite end of the spectrum offensively this season, as the Orioles are dead last in the league in runs per game (2.53) while the Angels are fifth at 4.80 runs per game.

Usually, you’ll see first five inning totals set around 4.5, but we get this one up all the way to five since the Orioles’ pitching staff on paper is one of the worst in the league. However, the O’s have been much better than you’d expect, ranking sixth in baseball in earned run average this season.

The Angels may score around their season average, but I don’t expect all those runs to come early, and with Baltimore’s struggling offense, the UNDER is the play in this prop. -- Peter Dewey

Robbie Ray OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-125)

Earlier today in my Sunday MLB best bets column, I wrote how I'm leaning towards the under eight runs in Royals vs. Mariners this afternoon from T-Mobile Park (will always be Safeco Field to me).

Ray is an elite-level strikeout pitcher who hasn't gotten anywhere close to the levels we've seen him perform at in years past. Through three games, he only has five, four and four strikeouts respectively. For context, Ray has averaged 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings over his career!

Granted, the velocity is slightly down, but we also saw that with Shane Bieber of the Guardians, and he responded in his previous outing by shoving vs. a tough offense in the White Sox. Conversely, the Royals' offense is pitiful so far through the month of April, trailing only the Baltimore Orioles in total runs scored with 39.

Ray should cruise on getaway day and look more like the swing-and-miss ace we've become accustomed to seeing. -- Ben Heisler
