Seattle Mariners at Detroit Tigers NRFI
My once promising AL Cy Young preseason dark horse pick, Logan Gilbert, takes the mound for the Mariners in a very juicy matchup against the free-swinging Tigers in the Motor City. Gilbert got off to a brutal start in August, but has been much better in his last two starts, not walking any batters and allowing only four earned runs in 11.1 innings. He’s also been terrific early on in games; pitching to a 1.53 ERA the first time through the order.
As for Rodriguez, he’s looked sharp since returning from injury in August; giving up just one run in his last 11 innings.
Both of these teams aren’t known for their no-run-first-inning prowess this season, but both starters are in a groove right now, and should escape their respective first innings with no runs on the board. – Ben Heisler

Johnny Cueto OVER 4.5 Strikeouts – Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals
When in doubt, back Johnny Cueto. He’s been fantastic all year long and this seems like a very reasonable line, even though it's against the Royals. For a majority of the season, Kansas City has been one of the best teams in the league at not striking out. However, they are in danger of falling out of the top 10 and have struck out 10 times per game over the last three games.
The Royals are slipping and Cueto, who dominated August outside of one start, will be glad to take advantage. He hasn’t cleared this line in his last seven starts, but we’re going to trust him anyway. Cueto’s still been dominant and he’s consistently been around this number – so he gets our stamp of approval today. – Donnavan Smoot

Merrill Kelly OVER 5.5 Strikeouts - Milwaukee Brewers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Usually when I’m betting on a pitcher prop in a game involving the Arizona Diamondbacks, I’m taking the UNDER on strikeouts for the pitcher that’s facing them.
Today, I’m doing the complete opposite. I’m taking the OVER 5.5 strikeouts for Diamondbacks starter, Merrill Kelly.
Kelly has surpassed this number in six of his last seven starts, including four-straight heading into tonight.
Not only that, but he gets to face a Brewers team that has the fourth highest strikeout rate in baseball since August 1st. During that time span, the Brewers have struck out on 24.4% of their plate appearances.
I love that we’re getting plus-money on this prop tonight. – Iain MacMillan
