The BetSided team bounced back on Tuesday night; going 2-1 in our best MLB props of the night. The NRFI (no-run-first-inning) in the Philadelphia Phillies - Arizona Diamondbacks matchup hit early before both offenses exploded, and L.A. Dodgers left-hander Andrew Heaney breezed past his OVER 5.5 strikeouts against the New York Mets.

For today's slate of games, the crew is headed to Cincinnati as the St. Louis Cardinals match up against the Reds,

Paul Goldschmidt OVER 1.5 Total Bases – St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds

I’m going all-in on NL MVP favorite Paul Goldschmidt on Wednesday, as he faces the Cincinnati Reds and Mike Minor, a pitcher he has been elite against in his career.

In 14 career at-bats against Minor, Goldschmidt is slashing a crazy .571/.600/1.286 with three homers and a double to his name. Not only does Goldy crush Minor, but he’s hitting a shocking .414 against lefties this season.

The Reds also have one of the worst bullpens in baseball, so even if the bases don’t come off of Minor, there is still a good chance that Goldschmidt makes some noise later in the game. – Peter Dewey

Mike Minor UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-145) Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals

This is an epic mismatch between the hottest offense in baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals, who have the best wRC+ in the month of August in addition to the third lowest strikeout rate, face off against lefty Mike Minor.

Minor has an ERA of 6.10 with a high walk rate and middling strikeout marks. He is averaging less than this total (4.4) and he is now running into one of the best offenses in baseball that has the runaway MVP favorite Paul Goldschmidt in the heart of the lineup. I expect Minor gets chased early again and doesn’t get the necessary volume to go over this strikeout mark.  – Reed Wallach

Drew Rasmussen OVER 4.5 Strikeouts - Tampa Bay Rays vs. Miami Marlins

Did the oddsmakers fall asleep at the wheel and forget to update their projections on Rasmussen this entire month?

The Rays' right-hander has been fantastic in August with a 1.59 ERA in 28.1 IP; highlighted by 29 strikeouts to just four walks. Opponents are hitting just .155 against him, and that's bad news for the Marlins. Over the last 30 days, Miami is striking out just under 25% of their at-bats, hitting under .200 as a team, and have a team weighted-on-base-average, or wOBA of just .261. Those last three starts rank DEAD-LAST in all of baseball.

I get that Rasmussen by nature isn't a strikeout artist, but he also has fanned seven, eight, and nine hitters respectively in his last three starts. Miami can't hit, and Rasmussen can't be hit. Perhaps I'm getting Punk'd by this line, but this is an easy call. Ben Heisler

Bailey Falter UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

That’s how I feel about my MLB strikeout prop betting strategy. It’s simple. You find out who is pitching against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and take the under on their strikeout total.

People who don’t look at stats and just bet blindy, would probably automatically think to take the over in this situation right? After all, the Diamondbacks stink.

Well, their record might, but they have one of the best strikeout rates in all of baseball. In fact, in the month of August, no team struck out fewer times than the Diamondbacks. They struck out on only 17.75 of their plate appearances.

Today, they face Phillies’ pitcher, Brailey Falter, who has struggled getting strikeouts when facing teams who excel in this category. For example, he only managed three strikeouts in six innings against the New York Mets earlier this month. The Mets have the sixth lowest strikeout rate in baseball in August.

I love the UNDER on Falter’s strikeout total tonight.
