We were one strike away from pulling off a perfect 3-0 sweep yesterday, but Carlos Rodon decided to hang an 0-2 meat ball that got blasted to the stands so we'll have to settle for a 2-1 day.

Can't go broke makin' money, though! Let's carry that mantra into today's 14-game MLB slate and find some more winners, shall we?

Using odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, here are my favorite No Run First Inning (NRFI) and Yes Run First Inning (YRFI) bets of the day:

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

Marlins vs Pirates NRFI (-115)

The Marlins were one of the best NRFI teams in the first half of the season and kept the scoreless train rolling in yesterday's loss to Texas. As their lineup continues to sputter and rotation dazzle, I'll keep backing the NRFI in their contests.

Braxton Garrett limited the Pirates to two hits over six scoreless innings in his last start. He's yet to allow a single run in the first over eight outings and should find success today.

Miami scores in the first inning on the road in only 14.89% of their games, so I'm thrilled to get even money on the NRFI today. Pittsburgh starter Zach Thompson allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last seven starts - he should no problem shutting the Marlins' woeful lineup down in this one.

Angels vs Braves NRFI (-135)

First things first: Atlanta isn't scoring in the opening frame against Shohei Ohtani.

The newly crowned Best MLB Player and Best Athlete has allowed precisely two runs total over his last six starts, good for an obscene 0.46 ERA. Atlanta scores in the first less than 28% of the time, so I'm not worried about this side of things.

Thus, this bet essentially comes down to whether Charlie Morton can keep the Angels off the board. I think he will. The Angels score in the first inning in only 23.26% of their road contests and Morton allowed two or fewer runs in five of his last six starts. With Ohtani's dominance, I'll take the -135 odds on Morton keeping a poor lineup at bay early.

Giants vs Dodgers NRFI (-125)

Logan Webb is on a ridiculous heater, throwing seven consecutive quality starts with a 1.37 ERA in that stretch.

The Dodgers' lineup is dangerous, but I've got faith in Webb. I've got almost as much faith in him as I lack in the Giants' lineup, which scores in the first inning in just 22.73% of their road games.

Tyler Anderson has been sensational for Los Angeles, posting a 6-0 record and 2.90 ERA at home while ranking in the 94th percentile in average exit velocity. The Giants were also one of the best NRFI teams in the first half and I expect the zeros to keep coming.
