The NFL season starts in less than a month and we still don’t really know who is going to be the No. 1 wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers. Davante Adams has been carrying the wide receiver room for years now, and it’s time for someone to step up.

The next player in line is Allen Lazard, who is wide receiver No. 1 on the depth chart. Even though there’s still a lot to be seen, Lazard is still a good bet to be the top receiver and to go over his season long prop for receiving yards.

Right now, DraftKings has Lazard’s season long receiving yard prop at 750.5 yards. In 2021, Lazard had over 500 yards on 40 catches and 60 targets. With Davante Adams’ 1,500 yards and 170 targets gone, Lazard’s target share is bound to go up.

If Lazard was anywhere else, I would likely say to take the UNDER. However, Aaron Rodgers is his quarterback.

Since Rodgers has been the starter, he’s never had a No. 1 receiver finish the season with less than 800 yards. The lowest total a receiver has finished with was Davante Adams in 2017 when he ended the year with 885 yards. That’s still 135 yards more than Lazard’s total – and was done with one fewer game on the schedule.

Yesterday, I made my pick between A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones for who will be the top back. I acknowledged that the Packers’ offense will lean on them more now that Adams is gone. Still, the Packers are going to throw the ball with Rodgers under center.

Lazard also has some stats that work in his favor. He has a career catch percentage of 68.6%. He averages over 13 yards per reception. And, he’s 6-foot-5. Lazard can be a redzone target as well as a deep threat, making his usage diverse.

Although we don’t really know who to trust, Lazard is next in line and has one of the best quarterbacks throwing to him, so he gets my trust.
