BetSided Community Picks Their Winners for The Masters
I feel like I've already written one million articles on the Masters (It's actually like seven), and I'm going to continue to write articles, record videos, and appear on podcasts throughout the week giving out my thoughts and picks for this week's tournament.
But for now, I want to take a step back and take a look at who YOU are picking to win this year's Green Jacket.
I sent out a tweet this morning asking to hear everyone's best bet, so now we're going to take a look and comment on a few of them.
The People's Best Bets to Win the 2022 Masters
It's hard to argue against Jon Rahm, but I'm going to try my best to do it anyway! His short game has been a disaster so far this season. Heading into the Masters, he ranks 170th in strokes gained: around-the-green and 136th in strokes gained: putting.
I could be dead wrong here, and Jason Huggins might walk away with a winning ticket, but I'm personally staying away from Rahm this week.
Si Woo Kim was in contention heading into the weekend at last year's Masters, but fell apart on Saturday and Sunday. I personally won't be betting on Si Woo Kim to win, but I like Mat's pick as a potential longshot. So much so that I wrote about Kim in my Dark Horse Picks article.
Sneaky play Mat, I like it. He might even be a good longshot wager to be the first round leader.
Ted is right, for some reason, not many people are talking about Scottie Scheffler this week. He's having the best season of anyone on Tour by a wide margin, and has recently been given the title of the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world. You can still bet on him at +1400 at WynnBET.
No, Phil! Don't do it!!
I could be wrong (have been plenty of times before), but Jordan Spieth is one of the three golfers I'm advising you to fade this week. When he was at his peak, he was the best putter on the planet. Entering this week, he's 180th in strokes gained: putting. Tough to win with numbers like that.
There were a few people in support of JT this week. I gotta say, I agree with Chad and the others.
Cameron Smith is having the best season on Tour out of everyone not named Scottie Scheffler. With a win at the Tournament of Champions and The Players, he could be a force to be reckoned with this week. My main concern is that he hasn't competed since The Players last month, will he have any rust?
Here's a pick that's off the board. Seamus Power is available at 100/1 at WynnBET for anyone who wants to ride with Dusty. He has four top 10s and nine top 25 finishes this season, so it's tough to argue too much against Power if you're looking for a dark horse. This will be his Masters debut.
Patrick Cantlay is flying under the radar heading into the Masters. The biggest knock against him, and the reason why I'm staying away, is that his approach game has been off so far this season. He ranks 146th in strokes gained: approach heading into this week. He could certainly still get it done, but that stat is enough for me to stay away.
Could Dustin Johnson win his second Green Jacket? I wouldn't be shocked. He seems to be dialing in his game as of late. He finished T9 at The Players, and then finished fourth at the WGC Match Play event two weeks ago. There's not enough there in his numbers for me to back him personally, but I don't hate the play.
Ah, our very own Ben Heisler must be buttering me up for some reason. Does he want me to work late this week? Do I need to work on my upcoming weekend? Who knows what he wants from me, but picking my fellow Canadian Corey Conners is certainly a way to get on my good side.
He has two straight top 10 finishes at the Masters, and I'll be looking for a live betting opportunity on my fellow countryman. His subpar performance at the Valero Texas Open last week makes me want to wait to see how he looks on Thursday before I personally wager on him.
