BMW Championship Picks, Predictions, and Odds (Can Will Zalatoris Go Back-to-Back?)
Will Zalatoris finally has his first win on the PGA Tour, and yours truly cashed an outright ticket.
I gave out Zalatoris at 30/1 in last week's betting preview. Can I make hit another outright this week?

How to Handicap the BMW Championship
This week is a handicappers worst nightmare. It is the first time that Wilmington Country Club will host a professional tournament. That means we have almost nothing to base our bets on this week.
No course history, no data, no stats. Nothing.
Not only that, but there are two courses at Wilmington Country Club, and the Tour will be using a mix of holes from both the South Course and the North Course. It hasn't been confirmed exactly which holes they'll be using.
So, whenever we're going into an event blind, we should stick to the basic stats and then put more weight in recent form.
5 Key Stats for the BMW Championship
- Strokes gained: off-the-tee
- Ball striking
- Strokes gained: approach the green
- Strokes gained: around-the-green
- Strokes gained: putting
Best Bets to Win the BMW Championship
Will Zalatoris +1400
Why can't Willy Z go back-to-back?
A big part of why I bet on him last week, was that he entered the event with a new caddie, and sometimes that can make an immediate impact for a golfer. It certainly did for Zalatoris, who finally got over the hump and won his first event.
Not only that, but he had one of his better putting rounds of the season, an area he has historically struggled in. He did that while having his approach game dialed in more than ever, gaining +2.19 strokes on the field with his irons.
Best ball striker on Tour, new caddie, putting is coming along, and finally got the monkey off his back with a win. There's no reason not to bet on him again.
Cameron Young +2800
Will Zalatoris got his first win on Tour, now Cameron Young sits atop the list of golfers who have won the most money this season, without a win.
He wasn't exactly in contention last week, finishing T31, but he actually finished second in strokes gained: tee-to-green, behind only Zalatoris. His issue was his putting let him down, losing -1.38 strokes with the flat stick.
If he can figure out his putting this week, don't put it past him to get the win.
Joaquin Niemann +3500
Joaquin Niemann is climbing up the list of golfers who I've lost plenty of money on, assuming that they'd win much more often than they actually do.
With that being said, he finished third in strokes gained: approach last week, but much like Young, was let down by his short game.
Both his putting and chipping has been hit or miss recently, but I'll stick to my adage of it's better to bet on good ball strikers and hope they putt well, than to bet on good putters and hope they strike well.
