Now that the PGA Championship is wrapped up, the golf world will turn its attention to the Charles Schwab Challenge, set to take place at the Colonial Country Club.

If you want my full breakdown of the event, as well as my top picks to win, check out my betting preview here.

In this article, I'm going to give out a few matchup bets that I like. All of these are tournament-long matchup bets, meaning whoever finishes higher up on the leaderboard at the conclusion of the entire tournament, is deemed the winner.

All odds listed below are via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Sebastian Munoz (-115) vs. Mito Pereira

Losing a major the way that Mito Pereira did at the PGA Championship can have long-lasting effects on a golfers psychological strength moving forward, not to mention the very next week.

We've seen it time and time again. Francesco Molinari blew a late-lead at the Masters to Tiger Woods in 2019 and has still never recovered. Jordan Spieth did the same in 2016, and is only now starting to return to his previous form. Mito might be able to do it quicker than others, but I'm fading him as much as possible this week.

Sebastian Munoz is a very capable golfer who has already secured three top five finishes this PGA Tour season.

Brian Harman (-110) vs. Chris Kirk

Chris Kirk has been a popular play at this week's event, but I'm going the other way and I'm going to back lefty Brian Harman in a matchup against him. FanSided's Cody Williams agrees with me, as he's taking Harman to finish in the top 20. This is what he said about him in his expert picks article:

"There are some courses on the PGA Tour where the lefty, Brian Harman, can’t really contend because he’s just not long enough off the tee. That’s not an issue at this course, though, and his approach play has been trending up in a major way of late, gaining over 1.2 strokes per round over his last 12 rounds in that capacity. He showed out in the final round at Southern Hills and I like for him to ride those feels into Colonial and cash a Top 20 bet."

Talor Gooch (-120) vs. Billy Horschel

Talor Gooch is truly one of the most underrated golfers on Tour right now. He already has a win this season at the RSM Classic, and he ranks amongst the best in many different statistics.

Heading into this week, he ranks 20th in approach and sixth in strokes gained: around-the-green. He's also coming off a strong T20 finish at the PGA Championship. Meanwhile. Horschel ranks 136th in strokes gained: approach, which is going to cost him at a course like Colonial.

I'll back Gooch as a slight favorite.
