The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the current AP Poll and they both won big this week. Alabama destroyed the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, 63-14, and Georgia embarrassed Vanderbilt, 62-0.

WynnBET Sportsbook has a futures wager for College Football Champion: Alabama/Georgia versus the Field, and Alabama/Georgia (-210) is a heavy favorite to the Field (+190).

To become the College Football Champion, you have to get to the College Football Playoff first. Alabama and Georgia both feel like guarantees to make the four-team playoff, so which two teams in the Field will secure the two other open positions?

After losing for the second time in four games, Clemson has erased itself from the championship picture. No. 4 Oklahoma has dodged a few bullets this season, beating Tulane by just five, Nebraska by a touchdown, and West Virginia by a last-second field goal.

No. 6 Penn State has a decent championship resume so far, picking up victories over No. 12 Wisconsin and No. 22 Auburn. Penn State has to survive their buzzsaw schedule, still having to face No. 5 Iowa, No. 10 Ohio State, No. 19 Michigan and No. 20 Michigan State.

Ohio State still has an outside shot to make the playoffs after having their only loss coming from then-ranked No. 12 Oregon, who is now No. 3. Ohio State may have to go undefeated the rest of the way. Oregon only has one currently ranked matchup left on their schedule, at No. 24 UCLA on Oct. 23.

Everyone in the College Football-watching universe wants to see a non-Power Five school make the playoffs, and No. 8 Cincinnati is the closest to that reality. Cincinnati could really help its case with a win over No. 12 Notre Dame next week.

Alabama’s closest brush with a loss this season was their Week 3 victory over the Florida Gators down in Gainesville, 31-29. Other than this close matchup, the Crimson Tide crushed the Miami Hurricanes, Southern Mississippi, and the Mercer Bears. For Georgia, their most narrow win came against the questionable Clemson Tigers in Week 1, winning 10-3. Besides this close contest, the Bulldogs have battered the UAB Blazers, South Carolina Gamecocks and the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Alabama and Georgia have not had the strongest schedules in the first few weeks, playing a few weaker teams and have had close shaves with more able competition.

The Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs are not immortal. I’m taking the Field.
