D'Onta Foreman vs. Jeff Wilson Jr. - Who will Rush for More Yards in 49ers vs. Titans
By Matt De Saro
The San Fransisco 49ers are on a short week heading into their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Tennessee Titans. The 49ers are not only on a short week but a little shorthanded with RB Elijah Mitchell out. Bad news for the team but good news for those betting on player props for the 49ers.
WIth two emerging stars out of the backfield in D’Onta Foreman and Jeff Wilson Jr. we might be in for a pretty good RB battle tonight in Tennessee.
Let’s take a look at some prop odds from WynnBET Sportsbook for this game and make some calls on these two featured backs.
D'Onta Foreman Rushing Yards Total 51.5 (OVER -125/UNDER -115)
Foreman went off last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers for 108 yards of 22 carries. He added 27 receiving yards in what was one of his best games yet. The Titans have struggled mightily to move the ball on the ground since Derrick Henry went down but Foreman has been looking better and better each week. This week the 49ers present a tougher matchup however than Pittsburgh. The Niners' defense is the 13th ranked rushing defense in the NFL and allows an average of 108.6 yards per game on the ground.
One thing that could possibly hold Foreman back tonight is the return of A.J. Brown. Brown was activated this morning from the IR but he is still not a lock to contribute tonight. Even if he does, who knows how effective he will be. But, if he is able to put some work in, it will cut into Foreman’s snaps and change the Titans’ entire gameplan.
Foreman has gone for over 100 yards in two of his last three games when seeing at least 18 carries. I think we see a similar workload for him tonight which should be enough to push him OVER this total.
Jeff Wilson Jr. RushingYards Total 64.5 (OVER -125/UNDER -115)
Much like Foreman, Jeff Wilson Jr. is coming off a very strong performance in Week 15. The Niner’s feature back had 21 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons. It was probably the finest game Wilson has put together but he has flashed brilliance before. The added work is a welcome sign, especially with Deebo Samuel cutting into his work out of the backfield. In the last six weeks, Samuel has scored six touchdowns on the ground and is getting 6-8 touches per game in those contests.
One positive is that Elijah Mitchell has been ruled out which will leave Wilson with some more tonight. I do worry about Samuel’s snap count as a RB, but Wilson is still the clear lead back in SF. The 49ers also lean heavily on their run game and tonight should be no different. Samuel is more of a threat to snipe touchdowns and not yardage so I think Wilson is once again a strong bet to go OVER here.
