It was a solid day for the Daily Dinger yesterday. Both Peter Dewey and Reed Wallach correctly predicted Freddie Freeman to go yard against the Rockies, so we're back on track as we look to wrap up the month of June tonight.

Today, it is just myself (Iain MacMillan), and Donnavan Smooth. I guess yesterday's winners got to take the day off.

Let's jump into our picks to hit a home run today, with the consensus odds listed.

Best Home Run Picks Today

  • Giancarlo Stanton - New York Yankees (+370)
  • Joey Votto - Cincinnati Reds (+280)

Giancarlo Stanton - New York Yankees (+370)

You can’t go wrong by picking a Yankee to be your home run pick for the night. While Aaron Judge is dominating all of baseball right now, let’s not forget who else is in this Yankees lineup. Stanton has hit a homer in five of his last six games, including two in last week’s series against the Astros.

Luis Garcia, the Astros’ starter today, didn’t pitch against the Yankees in the Bronx, and I think he’ll be hit today. He’s given up five home runs in four starts this month. While he had a pretty clean May, he’s subject to letting one slip. Stanton will be there when Garcia makes his mistake today. -- Donnavan Smoot

Joey Votto - Cincinnati Reds (+280)

Old man Votto has only hit five home runs this season, but that number can't stay this low forever, can it? He hit 36 dingers just last year, so I'm hoping that we'll start to see some positive regression from him tonight when he and the Reds take on the Cubs.

Kyle Hendricks gets the start for the Cubs, and he's had a rough 2022. He has a 4.90 ERA, and has give up 1.6 home runs per nine innings. I'll back Joey Votto to get back on track tonight.
