All over the internet, you'll be finding picks to win the 2022 U.S. Open being given out by golf betting experts. But, what about names of golfers who you SHOULDN'T bet on?

That's where this article comes in. I love nothing more than to sniff out bad bets.

If you want to see my full breakdown of the event and my outright picks to win, check out my betting preview here.

But now, let's dive into some names of golfers I think you shouldn't bet on this week.

All odds listed are via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Cameron Smith +1500

Cameron Smith has been one of the top golfers on the PGA Tour this season. He won both the Tournament of Champions and the Players Championship, and he has five total Top 10 finishes including a T3 at the Masters.

So, you're probably wondering why I'm recommending not betting on him this week.

It's due to his play off-the-tee. He ranks 143rd in strokes gained: off-the-tee this season, and if there's one area of your game that has to be on point at U.S. Open's, it's your driving ability. He's neither long nor accurate, ranking 102nd in driving distance, and 151st in driving accuracy. That's a recipe for disaster at a USGA course.

His results at U.S. Open's back this claim up. His last four starts at this tournament are finishes of; missed cut, T72, T38, missed cut.

Brooks Koepka +2500

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills whenever a major tournament comes around and I see people betting on Brooks Koepka.

We, as a society, need to accept the fact that Brooks Koepka isn't the golfer he used to be. He's no longer an auto-bet at Major tournaments. He's been battling injuries for a while now, and just has not been playing good golf.

He missed the cut at the Masters and finished T55 at the PGA Championship. He's 94th in total strokes gained and 123rd in strokes gained: tee-to-green. Sportsbooks listing him at 25/1 this week is borderline criminal.

Dustin Johnson +2500

Dustin Johnson was the biggest name to sign with LIV Golf, and that shows exactly where his mind is at. At this point of his career, money comes first, and that's not the mindset that's going to win you major championships.

Furthermore, he just hasn't played good golf recently. Since finishing T12 at the Masters, he missed the cut at the RBC Heritage, finished T59 at the AT&T Byron Nelson, and then missed the cut at the PGA Championship. Even at the first LIV Golf event, which had a disgustingly weak field, he finished in 8th place behind golfers like Hennie Du Plessis, Peter Uihlein, Oliver Bekker, and Adrian Otaegui.

Have you heard of any of those golfers? Neither have I.
