Eagles' Schedule Sets Path to Win NFC East
By Peter Dewey
The Philadelphia Eagles officially have a path to winning the NFC East.
After Philly was absolutely crushed by the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas earlier this season, it seemed like Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni and Philly were destined to be basement dwellers in the division.
However, Philly has come on strong in the second half of the season, winning three of its last four games including back-to-back wins to move to 5-6 on the season. While the Eagles are still under .500, they have a cupcake schedule the rest of the way that could help them steal the NFC East title.
The Cowboys did Philly a favor on Thanksgiving, as they lost to the reeling Las Vegas Raiders in Dallas in overtime. The loss dropped the Cowboys to 7-4 on the season, giving Philly a chance to move to just 1.5 games back with a win over the New York Giants this week.
The Giants are down and out at the moment, sitting at 3-7 and preparing to face Philly on a short week after firing offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. WynnBET Sportsbook has the Eagles as 3.5-point road favorites in this matchup, and it seems like a game that the Eagles should win if they’re truly a playoff contender.
New York isn’t the only easy team on the Eagles schedule. Here is how the team finishes out the season, with a potential showdown with the Cowboys in Week 18.
Philadelphia Eagles’ Remaining 2021 Schedule
- Week 12: @ New York Giants
- Week 13: 2 New York Jets
- Week 14: BYE
- Week 15: vs. Washington Football Team
- Week 16: vs. New York Giants
- Week 17: @ Washington Football Team
- Week 18: vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Eagles still have five of their six division games to go, and luckily for them only Dallas is over .500 amongst Philly’s remaining opponents.
The Cowboys still have matchups with the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals this season, as well as road games against the Giants and Washington.
There’s still a long way to go for the Eagles to win the division, as they’ll need some help from Dallas and will need to take care of business themselves, but the schedule couldn’t have lined up more in their favor to finish the 2021 season.
If you’re looking for a sneaky dark horse to earn a playoff spot, Jalen Hurts and company certainly fit the mold at this point in the season.
