Falcons-Giants: It's Now or Never for Saquon Barkley and the Giants

The return of Saquon Barkley has not gone as planned. After taking just 29 snaps in Week 1, the New York Giants running back had 13 carries for 57 yards in Week 2.

We saw a glimpse of the talent Barkley still has with one run in the second quarter last Thursday, but it felt like before he tore his ACL last season, he would’ve taken this one into the end zone.

Barkley gained 41 yards on that run, but only 16 on his other 12. The Washington Football Team sold out on interior pressure against the Giants and Barkley couldn’t shake free

With one of the best defensive fronts in football, and key Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates going down with a gruesome leg injury earlier in the game, WFT had no respect for New York’s run game.

The Giants pivoted and ran the read option with Daniel Jones keeping it, bouncing to the outside and clearing the edge. Jones had 95 yards on the ground in the 30-29 loss.

WynnBET Sportsbook has the Giants win total set at 6.5 for the rest of the season with odds on over and under at -110. If Barkley can't find his explosiveness, New York will fall short of this number.

Big Blue’s offensive line is going to continue to be an issue moving forward, and it is fair to question just when we can expect Barkley to a hole and break off explosive plays we became accustomed to.

If there is any game to do it, it’s this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons are 27th in both rushing success defense and explosive rush defense. Barkley may not have his burst all the way back, but if he can’t break a big one against a porous Atlanta defense, you have to wonder if he will be worth starting in your fantasy lineups moving forward, and if the Giants offense can hit their optimal levels.

This is a make-or-break week for Barkley and the Giants.
