2021 featured the “Summer of Giannis” and it looks like it may turn into the “Season of Giannis” when the NBA returns.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, a champion and Finals MVP, has moved into the top three of the odds standings to win MVP in the 2021-22 season. WynnBET has moved his odds up to +700, tying him with Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid.

Despite playing at nearly the same level last season as he did the two years prior -- when he won MVP -- Antetokounmpo only received one first place vote for MVP last season. Much of that had to do with an MVP fatigue and not wanting to give him the award due to his flameouts in the playoffs. However, the story has changed now.

The Greek Freak is in the conversation for the best player in the game, especially after his amazing performance in the NBA Finals. He scored 50 points in an elimination game and took the Bucks to the top of the mountain. With all the respect in the world, he should be back in the good graces of the voters.

Antetokounmpo averaged 28.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists last season. The counting stats went down, but he was more efficient from the field and the free throw line than the year before.

If he won MVP next season, he would join the shortlist of players with three MVPs in four years. The last player to do that was LeBron James from 2009-2013. The Greek Freak is already placing himself in all-time discussions and an MVP would only further his case.
