Despite being ranked No. 14 in the country, the Iowa State Cyclones have looked wobbly at times and the Baylor Bears could potentially push them over. This Big 12 matchup could be interesting.

Iowa State had a close shave with FCS Northern Iowa in Week 1, winning 16 to 10, then followed that game up with a respectable loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Cyclones got a rebound victory this week against the UNLV Rebels, winning 48-3. Maybe the beating the Cyclones served to UNLV helped loosen up the team's rusty offense. Brock Purdy threw for 288 yards and three scores while Breece Hall added 100 yards and a pair of scores on the ground in the win.

Baylor seems like a mystery, lurking on the edges of the Big 12. The Bears 3-0 to start the season and pulverized the Kansas Jayhawks last week. Quarterback Gerry Bohanon has began this season by completing 72.9 percent of his passes and is responsible for eight total touchdowns and is yet to throw an interception.

Iowa State vs. Baylor Prediction and Pick

Baylor currently has the sixth-best rushing attack in the country, averaging 321.3 rushing yards per game, and the Iowa State defense is the 10th-best rushing defense, allowing just 49.3 rushing yards per game. Both the Cyclones and the Bears have solid passing defenses, ranking 26th and sixth, respectively.

It looks like this one is going to be a really close matchup, but because Baylor has done a slightly better job of holding onto the football, I like them at home.

This will be the best defense Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy has faced since the matchup with Iowa when he threw three interceptions.

There are no guarantees in life, so you might as well chase the money. I’m taking Baylor to cover the spread this week and on the moneyline at +200. The Bears will upset the No. 14-ranked Cyclones down in Waco, Texas.
