Could arguably the most impactful quarterback in the country make his return from injury in the conference title game?

There is a case to be made that no quarterback is more important to their team than Grayson McCall is to Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers quarterback has completed nearly 69% of his passes for over 2,300 yards with a 21:1 TD-INT ratio. However, he has been hobbled by a high ankle sprain that cost him the team's last two regular season games.

However, there is hope that McCall could play on Saturday, here is the latest on the star quarterback:

Latest Grayson McCall Injury Update

Saturday morning update: Pete Thamel of ESPN reports Saturday morning that there is "cautious optimism" that McCall will be available on Saturday.

There is hope that McCall who is in week four of a "three-to-six week" recovery timeframe can play against Troy on Saturday in the Sun Belt Championship Game. Head coach Jamey Chadwell noted that McCall can play, but if the game were played on Wednesday, he wouldn't be able to:

Troy had steamed up to -10.5 in the market in hopes that McCall would miss his third consecutive game, but there has been some buy-back during the week. Currently, Troy is -8.5.

The drop off from McCall to Jarrett Guest, the team's backup, is immense. In two starts since McCall got hurt, he has completed 17-of-37 passes for 262 yards while throwing one touchdown pass with four interceptions.

Troy's defense is the best in the Sun Belt, and frankly one of the best in the country, top 25 in EPA/Play. The Chanticleers need McCall healthy to stand a chance of winning.
