Is Marquise Brown Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Update for Saints vs. Cardinals in NFL Week 7)
By Peter Dewey
The Arizona Cardinals are without receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown for a significant period of time after suffering a foot injury against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6.
Brown will miss the team's game in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football, and he's expected to be out at least a month, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
It's a major blow to the Cardinals' offense, as Brown was by far the team's best receiving option through the first six weeks of the season. The team had hoped to pair Brown with DeAndre Hopkins this year, but with Hopkins suspended for the first six games, the two have yet to take the field together.
Now, with Hopkins returning in Week 7, it's Brown who's now sidelined. Hopkins should be the primary beneficiary, sliding into the No. 1 receiver role in the team's offense. It's possible the Cardinals use second-year man Rondale Moore in a bigger role now with Brown out for the foreseeable future.
Arizona also traded for Robbie Anderson, one of the NFL's better deep threats, this week. This will be Anderson's first game with the team, and he's currently as high as +600 at some books to score an anytime touchdown.
Anderson can stretch the field with the best in the NFL, so he could be the eventual replacement for Brown in the offense. The Cardinals are currently slight favorites over the Saints in this game as they prepare to debut a new-look offense.
This season, Brown has 43 catches for 485 yards and three touchdowns in six games. He saw double digit targets in four games and had 64 total on the season. That's a lot of volume for the Cardinals to replace in Week 7.
