San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell received 27 carries in the team’s win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football, but it appears he could miss time with a broken finger.

Mitchell, who was injured earlier this season as well, has been the clear-cut leader ahead of Jeff Wilson Jr., Trey Sermon and JaMycal Hasty in the 49ers’ backfield.

However, with Mitchell potentially facing an absence, who should prop bettors and fantasy owners target in this backfield to replace his production? Mitchell has seen the bulk of the carries this season when he’s active, including 18 carries in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears and another 18 in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts.

While Mitchell may have a shot at playing, Wilson is the player to trust to pick up the slack if he is limited or out.

Wilson came off the PUP list in Week 9 against Arizona, but he saw his first real action in Week 10, carrying the ball 10 times for 28 yards.

While the numbers weren’t great for Wilson, Kyle Shanahan showed that he trusts him more than Hasty or Sermon at this point in the season. The 49ers need every win they can get if they’re going to sneak into the postseason, and this run-heavy offense will likely lean on Wilson in either a lead role, or as a change-of-pace to Mitchell down the stretch.

San Francisco is a 6.5-point favorite at WynnBET against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11.
