Justin Fields Passes Trevor Lawrence in Rookie of the Year Odds Following Andy Dalton Injury

Chicago Bears fans may finally get their wish.
Rookie quarterback Justin Fields was forced into action in the team’s Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and it appears he could be the team’s starter for longer than just last week, as Andy Dalton’s knee injury may keep him out in at least Week 3.

The oddsmakers at WynnBET certainly believe Fields will seize the opportunity, as he moved past No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence (+550) into second on the odds list to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award at +500. Mac Jones is still the favorite at +275.
Lawrence has struggled mightily through his first two games, throwing five interceptions with the Jacksonville Jaguars losing both contests. Fields flashed some of his unique athleticism in Week 2, but he still finished just 6-for-13 for 60 yards and an interception against the Bengals.
There’s going to be growing pains, especially with a tough matchup against the Cleveland Browns on deck, but Fields has a chance to solidify his job and a position in the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation if Dalton misses time.
The only man standing in his way appears to be his head coach Matt Nagy, who offered yet another endorsement of Dalton on Monday.
