Kansas was handed the second worst loss of the Bill Self era at Allen Fieldhouse this past Saturday to National Championship contender Kentucky. Now, they look to get back on track in a difficult Ames environment against Iowa State.

KU held off the Cyclones at home a few weeks back, winning by 1, and now enter as considerable road favorites. How should we bet this Big 12 matchup? Will Kansas close calls begin to catch up with them? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Kansas vs. Iowa State Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Kansas -4.5 (-110)
  • Iowa State +4.5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Kansas -195
  • Iowa State +165

Total: 138 (Over -105/Under -115)

Kansas vs. Iowa State Prediction and Pick

While the last image of Kansas was them on the wrong side of an embarrassing home loss, I believe they are in line to get back on track against Iowa State, who has cooled off after a torrid start to the season.

ISU has thrived on the defensive side of the ball, posting a top 10 defensive efficiency mark this season, per KenPom. However, that number is trending in the wrong direction in Big 12 play. The Cyclones are bottom half of the conference in defensive efficiency with an alarming opponent free throw rate and the worst two-point defense in Big 12 action.

While Kansas has shown some flaws, they are still an elite offense that is best in conference play in offensive rebounding and have a National Player of the Year candidate in Ocahi Agbaji (46% from three this season).

After opening -3.5, the Jayhawks now sit -4.5, which is a bit rich for my blood. If there's no buyback inside of -4, I'm going to use Kansas moneyline as a parlay piece. Check back for my best bets column for more.
