Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was suspended one game for his altercation with Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart, which causes him to miss tonight’s matchup against the New York Knicks. 

This is a huge break for a Knicks team that has struggled mightily in November, going just 4-7 and losing games to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors. 

James’ absence has moved New York to the favorite in this game, but do the Knicks deserve it?

The Knicks play up or down to their competition this season, as they barely beat the Houston Rockets on Saturday before playing a down-to-the-wire game against the Chicago Bulls in Chicago on Sunday. 

It’s maddening as a fan and bettor with this team, but I can’t back the Knicks at home even though they should get up for this game against the Lakers. Los Angeles has been a much different team without James this season (4-6), but the Knicks have been atrocious to bet on at Madison Square Garden as well.

The Knicks are just 3-6 against the spread (ATS) at home this year despite being favored in every game. Tom Thibodeau’s team will also likely be without centers Taj Gibson and Mitchell Robinson tonight, which could cause some major issues defensively against Anthony Davis.
